62° here, 82° forecast for high, appears as though sunny is most likely going to be partly sunny. Slight wind, so really pleasant.
Snubby really liked your description of the Avalon.
Always wondered about those kinda places?

It has become apparent that there is a rule in the drift!
No grumpiness! 😀
Sort of an island in a sea of flotrsum and jetsum! 😎

Good morning drifters and happy Memorial Day Weekend to you all. It's 67 degrees in the desert this morning and according to the weatherman/woman/person it is going up to 95-97 today depending on which one you listen to. They said something similar yesterday and it got to 100. By next weekend they say it should be 111, guess I'll just have to wait and see but no rain in the forecast, surprise, surprise, it's the desert of course there's no rain in the forecast.

No hordes were spotted during the night and I think it is because of the holiday weekend. According to the news if you want to go to the lake and put your boat in the water you have a line and have to wait for over an hour just to get to the boat ramp. Maybe the emus have boats and are going skiing this weekend. Rumor has it they don't need life jackets they just fill up on beans and when the gas materializes they can float and by expelling small quantities of said gas they can propel themselves through the water after they fall. Of course if someone drops a match on one they explode and I suppose you could call this Arizona fireworks. This part would be a lot of fun after dark.

Sounds like MP 15 was saved in the nick of time.
Ya' don't want wifey angry about her washer or dryer.
Especially on a holiday weekend !!
Roadtrash i believe the theory about Emu taking over
watercraft to be totally preposterous.
Everyone knows they already have a Submarine fleet !!
Lok i need to know if the Bear has emptied your Beer
cooler yet as well as any available picinik baskets ???
Walkinghorse you are absolutely correct that grumpiness
is only tolerable (with a good reason), such as running out
of Beer or Can't find your pants.
Kwelske i know is on guard for the invading hoardes while
on his daily trek. No worries.
Sure hope Vonn can get a little peace and quiet and some
relaxation this weekend while dodging the floods.
Snubby, that sounds like quite the place (Avalon).
I doubt that much "exercise" could be accomplished in such
a place. Glad you and the missus found the Y.
Tho i'm not a prude, wouldn't be my type of hangout either.

Hope you all are at least getting some relaxation and enjoyment
this Memorial Day weekend and also hope everyone can take a
moment to remember those who perished giving us all the
Freedoms we enjoy. To all drifters i wish you well and say,
Good Day.

I don't believe I would have used that term, especially to describe this particular kind of place! You know I'm kidding, right?

Good Morning Guys And Gals:

I'm just getting going. Just been advised that we're having Grandsons buddies over for a sort of pool party after they get home from church. I need to find my ear plugs. Because I let em crank the music up some. LOL! Luckily I loaded up on snacks, gator aid, bottled water and soda's on Thursday. And maybe in a few years there will be girls invited, when they get older? Yuck! Girls!

Wifey is thrilled about the new dryer. She didn't realize till this morning that I got the EXTRA High Capacity model. Not just a cheap little version. She helped me install it last night and never paid any attention to it? That's how tired she was.

So I just cut the box up. A real work out! And put it in our recycling can, but kept a large slab of it to lay in the garage/driveway to work on cars. And put the old dryer out by the mail box. Usally a scrapper will grab it within 24 hours, but not sure about it being a Holiday Weekend. If not, I have a buddy that scraps and I'll call him Tuesday. Or I'll call the local city pick up service and they'll come get it. But I'd bet a dime to a doughnut, that it's gone by Monday. I have plenty of options, and it sure beats illegally dumping it!

So next will be the washing machine, wifey told me this morning they were 10 years old. But still look new? But they don't make em like they used too. When we got married 40 years ago, my Mother gave us her old set of Maytags (she always bought Maytags) that were probably 10 years old (maybe older?) and they lasted us another 10-12 years without a single issue. And we had two babies and cloth diapers. No Pampers back then.

So I hope everybody is enjoying their weekend as much as I am (sarcasm).

So Please Stay Safe! And if you drink, Please don't drink and drive. It's not worth the gamble!

I saw a bunny rabbit this morning while walking. It was in the vacant lot directly across the street from the South Korean Consular's residence. I now realize that the vacant lot is due north of the residence. I wonder... could this be a North Korean bunny horde planning an attack? In North Korea one bunny is a horde, most of them have been eaten.

Speaking of the Y, we're gettin' ready to head on out for a good workout. Burn off some of those extra Memorial Day calories.
Ya just gotta drink beers when you're out cooking on the grill.
Since we don't have a/c in our house. We do more outdoor cookin' on the hot summer days.
One of these days, I'm gonna get some new guts for our old gas grill.

A trick I have used with some success 😋 is to put a for sale sign on the object !
Both times the object just up and disappeared! 🙌 Thieves have to think they are getting something of value! 😙 Of course you have to be slow or 'NO' on reacting to a noise in the middle of the night ! 🙉

Evidently only one chunk of fat in NK, shame it is in a head! Sycophants seem to like nylon uniforms and funky big furry hats! Wonder who gets the food after the photographer leaves?

And, on board the USS Yolo off the invasion beaches of Okinawa this date 1945.

May 29, 1945

No GQ last night although one raid was reported at 0015. Although Yolo knew little about the incident until later, it was during this raid the Shubrick (DD 639) was blasted by a Betty that hit a gun director, but its bomb blew a thirty foot hole in the main deck and tore out a portion of the side of the ship. This hit was 50 miles from Yolo’s anchorage. Slept off and on but I was up this morning and worked on reports. About 15 aircraft were plotted during the day. The ship went to GQ early in the evening but secured after a short time even though air attacks were anticipated during the night. Shortly after dark a cold front moved through. By 2100 the wind ceased, the rain stopped and a full moon rose. Several hours later clouds came in and everything closed down again. LSTs loaded with gear and troops come in almost daily. Today, 18 LSTs, which arrived initially on April 1, returned from Leyte to anchor off the beaches; they have steamed back with a second load. We remain “anchored as before”.
