Annoyed at thread drift

Good afternoon everybody! Hope everyone is having a great day! Looks like the drift has been busy! Took awhile again to catch up! :cool:
Beautiful day here and not to hot,,, works for me! ;)
Went to my throat specialist yesterday to have my dead vocal cord checked, it's working just fine as he left it, no need for more Botox! :cool: I've been having a sinus draining problem for close to a year now, causing me to cough, choke and sneeze. Now my other Doctor looked in my ear where I was having constant drainage, never said anything about it and prescribed me allergy medication and the stuff wasn't working. Now I've put up with this close to a year now and I go see my throat doc, he takes one look, listens to my symptoms and says that's an ear infection! :eek: He prescribes a cream suave to put in my ear three times a day! Guess what after using it one night I have no more cough and choke sessions!....Go figure,,, but I'm glad I went to get my throat checked! ;)
Getting ready for a roadtrip to see the granddaughter, has a show in school and her dance recital is this weekend, this should be a blast! :D

This is really something!!! I really enjoy harp music, but these three renditions of rock music, well ROCKS!!!! 🎼 🎶 🎵

My wife walks by on her way out the door, hears about 3-4 notes and says " Smoke on the Water!" Now that's cool ! 😎 She and my son know music, she sings, and he plays and teaches! Me, I am lucky if I can walk in something resembling a rhythm!
One beat, disharmony, that's ME! 👣

USS Steel, American Bridge Ironworkers, and construction!

Many years ago, I was working on a structural steel building for the GC. It was equivalent to a 14 story building in height, but because of the interstitial concept only had 7 stories.
Decking has to be following within 2 stories of steel framing erection, so AB ironworkers were overhead. One of the ironworkers lost a nut from his bolt bag and it landed on the decking near an electrician. This upset the electrician so he yelled a few choice words, and attempted to throw the nut back up 2 stories at the ironworker! The ironworkers thought this was funny, and the catcalls began along with other objects raining down!
The electricians went to the ladders going down, and started down with a challenge to the ironworkers (BTW not bright!!!!!). They were planning on being on the ground first and waiting for the ironworkers in the ground at the ladders.
Of course the ironworkers went to the columns, and slid down the columns by hooking the feet between the web and flange. Typical way down for them during this era. Guess who was on the ground first! Each ironworker had his bull'device' in his hand and a smile on his face! 😁 I stayed on the decking and radioed both the AB sup't and the electrician sup't. They walked over from their trailers and managed to calm things down.
Was a tense remainder of the day! 😉 This AB erection crew traveled together from job to job around the country, a real band of brothers, one for all, and like a rattlesnake if disturbed! More than one group of bar patrons in town learned the hard way! 😈

They did a good job building a certain LST back in 1944.

The shipyard steelworkers in Bath, ME were battling so often in 1986-7, it prompted the largest OSHA fine in history to that date. A yard worker had informed me of people that were "targets", that I should never accompany in the yard since heavy things were likely to fall on them. I decided to stay in the office permanently.

Watched The War in the Pacific, Okinawa till the end of the War; and another one on the Okinawa campaign, this past weekend ! Rewatched The Pacific on HBO, especially the Okinawa episode.
Along with the diary pages you have been passing on, the images provide som e visualof the horror of this period. Amazing that anybody today can think that not using the bomb, was an option! Imagine a mainland Japan invasion, Okinawa again for who knows how long? The death and destruction toll would be unimaginable! Even after the first bomb drop surrender wasn't happening! Fanaticism is incomprehensible to our way of thinking!
Many/most of us might not even be here?

Caricature of society today, with rewards, awards, trophies, ribbons, certificates, etc. for everyone who participates. Does everyone need an award for just doing there whatever?
When we walk our dog in an public place we have to carry multiple plastic bags, cause he is so proud he does his thing several times each walk! My wife says she looks like a bag lady while searching for a receptacle to place the bags! Good thing he is only 17# !!
