I'm very grateful today for the wonderful nation for which our beautiful flag stands. As a poignant corollary to the Memorial Day commemorations of a few short weeks ago, I'll have the privilege tonight of visiting a local cemetery which serves as a final resting place of so many of our veterans dating back to the Revolution. The sea of American flags adorning the grave sites of these veterans stirs an emotional response in me that I pray I'll never lose. I am also grateful for all the fine young men and women who continue to volunteer their service to our nation in this time of great need. Please remember that they are in so many ways the product of our "greatest generation" and will continue to guard well the finest traditions of the United States' armed forces.

Great progress has been made in the deck repairs, the main post has been repaired and the footer poured. A second post which is a minute 4x4 support has been replaced and a footer poured. The main steps have been removed and a footer for new ones have been poured and the stringers are cut.
The rest of the deck planking is being removed.
Hopefully tomorrow they will start putting it all back together! :D
I disassembled, cleaned and lubed my LCP while the deck was being done!
It is now reassembled and back in service! ;)

Always clean your guns! ;)

Good Evening Guys and Gals

Another hot and humid day here in Steamy Middle Tennessee. High was only 91 degrees, but humidity was 400%! Just kidding but it's a soggy mess here. No rain yet. But who needs rain, when you can generate your own wetness.

Supper is left overs tonight. I'm NOT cooking. There's still a few Angus Burgers left and some salad that needs to eaten or thrown out. I'm having salad.

I hope everyone had a Safe and Successful Day. I hope everyone stayed out of trouble. If not, we'll scrape up some bond money for our drifting bud's!

So have a good rest of your evening! I'm taking off my pants off and kicking back! I'm Unsure? Was that too much information? Oh well, I'll keep my animal print under roo's on just in case, it gets cold under the AC. Otherwise, all bets would be off!

The USS Yolo has now been off the invasion beaches of Okinawa since April 1, 1945. My count makes this day 75. The notes of Homer Bast CO of the Yolo for this date 1945:

June 14, 1945

Worked on the supply report and finished it. Yolo has no more fresh and frozen provisions so business is slack. Only a few SCs and LCTs drop by for water and stew beef. Orders came to transfer a storekeeper to the west coast. Much against our will we sent the best - he deserves it! Played bridge tonight as no movie was scheduled due to construction on the booth. On the beach ships unload and depart. On shore a construction and building boom is under way. Far to the south the battle progresses, but if it were not for that, Okinawa would be like Pearl. Tokuno was bombed again today as it was yesterday.

We got some much needed rain here today.
No big storms just a good soaking rain.
Farmers were really needing it.

I've also got a "few" knives hidden away. The only thing that
keeps me from becoming a knife-a-holic is my spare income
goes into the gun collection almost as soon as i make it.

Hope you all had a good day.

Chuck
