FBI agent loses gun during dance back flip

Evidently the struck patron was given free booze for life at the bar - I have no details what that really means - but in a radio call in show this morning, many were wondering where they could take a shot (with full recovery as expected in this case) for free bar tabs for life.

if Mr. Bishop was sober and stupid, or drunk or stoned committing the act is only one of the big issues. his actions afterward don't speak highly of him as a person let alone an agent for the FBI.

FBI Agents Firearms Discharge

I assume most of you are aware that an FBI Agent lost his pistol while doing a back flip while dancing. The pistol discharged. My question is how could this happen when virtually all new firearms are designed NOT to discharge if dropped. I do not know the specific model of pistol involved. I'd be interested in opinions as to how the could have happened.

The gun didn't go off when it hit the floor.
It went off when the idiot grabbed it to pick it up - and negligently pulled the trigger.

The gun discharged when he picked it up. Apparently he didn't know how to handle a gun -- as if loaded -- and pulled the trigger when picking it up. It was on our NEWS for 2-3 days.

Training was obviously inadequate - at least for him.

The FBI training might be very adequate - but ya can't train maturity and self-control however.

it did not discharge when it hit the floor. the firearm discharged when the agent recovered the gun from the floor.
basic careless grab with disregard for bang switch to booger hook relationships

I attended the FBI National Academy in '86 and went through their firearms training and it was more than adequate. That agent did not handle his gun the way he was trained to and that's on him, not the FBI.

From time to time a person of the anti-2nd Amendment persuasion pontificates on how ordinary citizens should never own firearms because they lack the training, judgement and maturity that law enforcement officers possess. Hmmmm. Sadly those qualities are not universal to all who carry badges.

could be that at the time of the deal, the proprietors fully expected the individual to bleed out

They showed the the guy who got shot on tv with his entrance and exit wounds. Looked like zero expansion from the famous FBI, new and improved, super 9m/m ammo. Call me "over-cautious" or paranoid but all my holsters have thumb break safety straps and the only semi auto I own without a thumb safety is a Ruger LCP II .380 that I pocket carry, chamber empty.

He should get fired & never should be able to put his hands on a firearm for the rest of his life. You can't fix stupid! Hope the person he shot is doing ok & gets a fantastic lawyer.
