CMP 1911 Application

You’re not alone. Never heard a word from ‘em. I reckon we’ll be waiting until the next batch comes along.

From what I gather from the link Les posted, they have committed 10,000 to be sold with another 10,000 barring some unforeseen circumstances.

I got the e-mail today.

"This email is to notify you that your order has been received and you have been assigned a number through the random number generating process. You will find your number listed below. At this time, we do not have enough 1911 type pistols to complete your order. Should the Army send us another shipment of sufficient quantity, we will use those 1911 type pistols to fill the next orders in line. Please do not contact us or reply to this email at this time.

Your generated number: 10263

Thanks,
CMP 1911 Program"

Well, just my luck. No gun for me this year. :( But I should be fairly early in next year's batch. ;)
Oh well, at least I do know for sure that I'm on the list and the paperwork is on file. Honestly, I was beginning to worry as I wasn't sure if I put enough postage on the envelope.

I guess at this point its pretty safe to say that all of this year's allotment has been accounted for. The list will roll over and from what I understand there's no plans to take new applications for several years at least.
Ok then. Next year it is. ;)

Got my random number just now - 10809. Looks like next year for me.

Now that's interesting.

"At this time, we do not have enough 1911 type pistols to complete your order."

So that means all 8,000 of the initial shipment, except for an unknown number that will go to auction, have been allocated/spoken for? Or are in the process of being assigned random numbers? Wow.

I knew they'd all sell, but they went really fast.

The positive thing is that I am on the list and will get my chance next year. After next year's election, who knows if any more will be sold?

I knew they'd all sell, but they went really fast.

Maybe that could work for us. Seeing as this batch sold so well, just maybe the powers that be might decide to release more pistols now. With politicians, its all about the money. ;)
Of course, I won't hold my breath.

My number did come up, but the timing couldn't have been worse. Post Christmas, literally bought a car that week (previous car was struck by an uninsured driver and totaled), and didn't want to load up my CC any more than it already was.

When I put my name in last October, things were rosy! And probably will be again in a month or two. Oh well...they will hit the secondary market soon enough, if I really want one.

Don't be discouraged yet - it could take all of 90 days before they are ready to send the gun to you. I got my number a while back (1/26/2019) and still haven't gotten the phone call. I won't get worried until 4/26/2019

Well I got nothing but a high number. So I went out and bought a lightweight commander to take the pain away. Now I can save again in case they get more.

Weird thing, they called me again today and it was no problem to place the order. Service grade heading my way!

I was 2927 and I got mine 6 weeks ago. I love it. I have a thread here somewhere if anyone really wants to see it. For those who are debating accepting one due to unexpected monetary issues, I felt the same way, but I said to hell with it. This is literally a once in a lifetime chance and I went to through that trouble to enter the lottery. I wasn’t gonna say no, and I’m happy I didn’t. I can always make more money and I’ve forgotten about the cost. Worst case scenario, you accept the gun and if you really have to, you sell the gun later and make a profit. I was already offered $1500 for mine. I declined.

And there is just nothing like opening that CMP box for the first time and seeing what you got. I’ve bought three Garands from them and it is exciting. I just bought an M&P .45 2.0 since I needed another .45 to shoot since I’m
Not shooting a 75 year old gun a whole lot, and the excitement at opening THAT box surely wasn’t the same! It was like “Okay. It’s an M&P”

Just got the phone call from Casey at CMP yesterday, asking for my CC information for my spot number 29xx CMP 1911.

At first they misplaced the updated FFL I sent - my FFL's license was expiring/being updated during the period since I submitted the application package originally - but I kept good records and reminded them of the date when they requested the updated FFL, and when I replied with it. They checked, found me compliant, so no harm, no foul, I should be getting mine at my FFL sometime soon.

Can't wait to see it and will share pics and info when delivered. Good luck to all those who are waiting!
