How appropriate that it falls on a Sundae. ;) :)

To mark the day, my son contemplating the largest dish of ice cream I've ever seen served.

I just celebrated my 60th birthday, it was a good excuse to go for ice cream. My wife and I both got a waffle bowl and three scoops. I had Praline, Butter Pecan and Pistachio. Her birthday is next month and it will be out for ice cream we go. It will be four scoops next time and two happy 60 year old kids.

It's damn cruel we can't survive on ice cream alone. :D

As a teenager I worked as a soda jerk at Doumar's Cones and Barbecue in Norfolk, VA. At the time Doumar's was owned by Al and Vic Doumar, nephews of Abe Doumar, who, according to family history, invented the ice cream cone at the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904.

History | Doumar's

There are, of course, other accounts of the invention of the ice cream cone, so no way to know for sure who can claim the title.

I saw my wife for the first time, she was a server at an Islay's parlor (the last one in Columbus) in the summer of 1974.

They let the employees eat all the ice cream they want! Normally the kids get sick of it in a few days. NOT Diane, her self control is unbelievable! She would have ONE SMALL SCOOP a day for the 2 1/2 years she worked there part time!
