When Is Enough Enough?

I purchased a PC Victory about 8 months ago and had to send it back because of stovepiping, fte, and ftf. Got it back and it stovepiped on the second round! I sent it back again and it worked for a few mags and then the same story. It was gone for about three weeks and I got it back again. That was about 2 months ago and we were on vacation for 3 weeks and today I finally had time to get back to the range. Same story again, fte, ftf and stovepiping. I tried 4 types of ammo but to no avail. All the ammo that failed to fire I put in my Ruger Hunter and it fired. I am out of idea's but to send it back again the first thing in the morning!!

THIS^^^^^^^ IS WHAT I CALL B.S. customer service..
IMHO , it's a lemon, take it back and tell them you want your money back. I wouldn't settle for anything less.
And you shouldn't have to go to 14 different kinds of ammo to figure out what it wants to shoot that is BS also.
And yes ,ENOUGH is ENOUGH !!!!

I bought a semiauto 22 with the same problem. Within 24 hours, the LGS which sold it to me offered me full credit towards any other gun.

Not to argue, but how divergent are the four different boxes of ammunition you tried? Many .22 semi autos are very picky, not just the Victory. Has anyone seen a post on the Forum, about what shooters have had good luck with? Might find a lead that way.....

I had 4 boxes of ammo this past day at the range but in the months that we owned the Victory I have tried over 10 brands of ammo with the same results. The firearm is going back to Smith's in the morning. I called Smith's and they stated that the gun will be looked at by a supervisor. They also told me that when a firearm is checked and repaired it goes to the range and fired 2 to 3 times as they can not fire it at any length, which is understandable. My Ruger Hunter fires anything. I am not going to spend seven to eight dollars on a firearm and have to go through 10 ammo manufacturers in order to find out what the firearm likes as company's such as Ruger, and others, makes firearms that really work. The Victory was so bad at the range that the range master asked me to take the gun off the range as there were numerous unfired bullets all over the bench and ground. Other members gave me their ammo and I could not get through a magazine without at least 2 misfires!

@OP,

Sorry to hear of the issues presented by your Victory. Not to pour salt on an open wound, but that is why I shoot a revolver! I've never experienced a stove pipe, FTE, or FTF in the almost 40 years since I bought my K22 brand new.

From my perspective shooting 1911s, it sounds to me as if the timing is off and Smith should be looking at the recoil spring. Best of luck!

OP, pardon my Candor but I think you're crazy sending it back for a fourth or fifth time for repair. I would tell him I want your money back. And send you a written apology, and a coupon or certificate to buy directly from the factory a different pistol at a huge discount. I wouldn't accept anything less, and if they truly want to keep customers they would do this.
I would also make sure to let them know that this has been posted on the Forum and everybody's watching to see what their customer service will do.

Have you asked them what they are using? Have you sent the mags back also? It could be a mag problem. Have you tried different mags? Be Safe,

It should shoot Anything , Everytime , by Anybody .
If it doesn't "perform" it needs to be replaced.
If you can't trust PC PISTOLS ,THEN WHAT.

My wife and the range master fired it along with other various members and got the same story! The magazines were also replaced. It will arrive at Smith this Thursday. When I took it to Fedex the representative that always waits on us asked if this is the same gun that keeps going back and I said yes. He asked what model it was so he can stay away from a PC Victory!

Sorry couldn't help myself.

While it would be nice if every 22 fired ever brand of ammo, that isn't reality. Some will, some won't. It isn't even manufacturer or model specific. Sometimes it's just that particular gun, as you are experiencing. I've got a Ruger MkIII that simply does not function on bulk Remington or Federal ammo.

Hopefully it gets corrected, as it does sound like something is wrong.

Did you try an HV ammo? I've seen 22s that need a good run of HV ammo before they function smoothly with SV ammo.

What ammo have you used? My experience has been the cheaper the 22 ammo the more firearms I have that malfunction on it.

I know you believe this.. but..

As a reloader I have several caliber semi's that I load for, I reduce load to the point that the brass lands on my right foot.

Never, and I'll repeat never have I been able to induce a failure with any of these guns with my hold which is not with a tight grip..

We tried federal champion, federal target, federal auto match, aguila super extra, cci stinger, cci mini mag, cci blazer, stopped thunderbolt as it was too dirty. There were a few more but were used early on with the same results!

Suggest Browning or Ruger. I've never liked the victory at all!
