Starbuck Coffee

Read on at your own risk ;)

Starbucks is the gateway drug to coffee. Once past the price tag, you start looking for "the next better cup."

I have hit the plateau. Kona Coffee Farm | Buy 100% Big Island Kona Coffee Online Was visiting Kona, and stopped for the tour. Great visit, better coffee. Real coffee, one farm. Peaberry rocks. Full City is dangerous. Private Reserve is, IMO, overrated. The sampler pack is the way to try this, even the macadamia nut. The chocolate-covered coffee beans (peaberry again)... you've been warned. :D

The dark chocolate cover macadamia nuts are indeed addictive. Kona coffee was my "gateway drug" coffee of choice but I graduated to Edgar's Signature Peaberry Blend from bluemountaincoffee.com. I buy two 1lb bags of whole bean at a time to save a little money and keep a bag in a stainless airtight container. Takes me about 4 or 5 months to go through a pound. Never had a problem with the second pound getting stale. It is still nice and oily when I open it up. I use a small hand powered stainless grinder with ceramic blades to grind a cup or two at a time. It has less caffeine and acid than most store bought coffees, which suits my stomach just fine.

I'd drink water out of a cattle hoof mark on a Texas dirt road way before I'd spend my money at StarButts.

Hate'em.

Doug

I'll have to go with moosedog on this. There are also others I will not patronize for similar or like reasons which can't be discussed here as the rules prohibit discussing religion or politics.

I get 2# of beans a month from a college student family member employee who doesn't drink coffee. They all have names like "Sumatra" "Ethiopian" etc. It's coffee, tastes like coffee. Gets my motor started at 4:15 am wake up time. Joe

I guess I'm the only one in the whole world who thinks most coffee taste pretty much the same whether it's from Starbucks, IHOP, McDonald's, or Folgers. I'm the same way with bottled water Ozarka, Nestlé's, Dasani, pretty much taste the same. Maybe I got the Covid virus many decades ago and it deadened my taste buds

Go with Black Rifle Coffee Company. Their politics are right on. Pro 2A and pro LE all the way. I really like their coffee too.

The first Black Rifle coffee house opened in San Antonio two weeks ago, about a 5 minute drive from my house, at one of the busiest intersections in San Antonio. I am not a coffee drinker, but have driven by the new Black Rifle a few times, seems that they are drawing a lot of customers in. It's located a stone's throw from a Starbuck's.

I drove by Black Rifle today (8/30). Parking lot was about 3/4 full and a half-dozen cars in the drive thru line. Zero cars in the Starbucks lot and three in the drive thru line.

I usually only hit Starbucks when overseas. 90% of the time I order their chai tea latte because I don't like their coffee; the other 10% is one of their frozen drinks because I usually can't find chai tea latte in China. Interestingly, my first time to visit a Starbucks was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Before that I had boycotted it.

As an aside, I have a fascination with big rigs and have been driving causally as a hobby since '84 - it's never been my day job. I used to haul Starbuck's green coffee beans from Hayward, CA to thier roasting facility in Minden, NV. I enjoyed the aroma of roasting coffee.

I swore off StalePucks coffee when Shultz started printing "Vote Hillary" on the receipts.

That said, when I don't have opportunity to brew my own, I can get a better tasting cup of coffee from Tim Horton's or the Speedway and Circle K gas stations. And for a lot less.

I am not a coffee drinker but have never understood why anyone would pay $5 or so at Starbucks for the same thing that they could get at a convenience store or fast food place for a buck. Perhaps someone could explain the difference to me.

Just the other day got a cup at a Convenience Store.
It was good! Noticed they had beans in a large storage container over a grinder and ground them when they made a fresh pot.
Coffee degrades after roasting, it degrades more after grinding.

It's interesting that so many like so many...

...different coffees.

I prefer Starbuck's...the darker the better. Never add anything to it...simply black.

Sometimes will buy another brand if I get a great deal. But then I always must add a flavored creamer to make it drinkable.:p

Lived in Boston where Dunkin' Donuts rules. Cannot drink that swill! Awful!

McD's is the worst in my tastebuds' opinion. :D

But drink whatever YOU like.

Be safe...be well.

PS: Never freeze my coffee and find Starbuck's is good long after the 'best by' date.

Re: Op. SB is fine coffee. Routinely enjoy it. Don't freeze. Not good for flavor. If you wish to find higher kick per cup ... try ... "Coma Coffee." Personally I enjoy Death Wish. Whatever you choose ... get a doughnut and drink up! Sincerely. bruce.

I won't voice an opinion as to brand but as to storage; look at it as you would an ammo purchase. I try different makes and weights to determine which works best for me and my guns. Try storing some of them in the freezer and some in the pantry.
See which tastes best or if there's any real difference and you'll have your answer soon.
I keep the sealed bags in the pantry and after opening I'll transfer them to a container with a tight sealing lid and grind daily from that.
