So you say it’s not a conspiracy

Alaska wasn't a state or part of the United States during WWII. Nice try keep going.

Actually...

During World War II, two of the outer Aleutian Islands—Attu and Kiska—were invaded and occupied by Japanese troops. They were the only parts of the continental United States to be invaded and occupied by an enemy nation during the war. Their recovery became a matter of national pride.

Here are the real invaders and we dont do anything once again. No cartridges used.

We all seem to forget that regardless of who is/has been in power - whether it's all one party pulling the levers or a divided government - we haven't done comprehensive immigration reform since the 1980s. Plenty of blame to go around on both sides...

Not completely true. Don't forget the War of 1812! We may have been severely provoked, but Yes, we declared war on Great Britain.

You have a good point there. Have been to some countries where getting into Ft. Knox would be easier.

I'm not sure what the War of 1812 has to do with whether Alaska was part of the U.DS. in 1941.

Did I miss something?

Probably a whole bunch of history classes. The first invasion of the U.S. was during the War of 1812. Next IIRC, was 1916 in New Mexico, unless you count the Civil War. Then would come the Philippines, Wake Island, Guam and then Alaska. Did I miss any guys?

There are millions of new gun buyers EVERY year.

Again, demand cannot explain why Cabelas/BassPro/Academy are receiving less.

What is your source that says they are getting less? What percentage less? And is it all based on Remington being out of the game during the sale of the company?

And don't tell me the sales guy said it. My sales guy at cabelas told me that ALL companies making primers will stop selling to individuals on May 1st and only sell to Ammo companies.

Gotta wear waders to step though all the BS at a gun counter.

Hmm, nice snappy comment. And, yes you missed it all. Particularly since I never disputed that, nor was I addressing that.

But please do educate us, specifically on how the war of 1812 relates to the status of Alaska in 1941.

I would hope our military has priority when it comes to ammo. I'd rather be out of ammo than to have the Army out of ammo.

Ok ill play the game why do you want the military to have priority over US citizens?
Who is invading the US? The US hasn't has foreign boots on our soil since 1812- OVER 200 years. All wars we fought in the last 70 years have been meaningless that we either lost or backed out of.
You really need to come out of the Ether.

It started quite a ways back in the thread.

You missed it again. Its a simple question. The thing is you are so bent on a confrontation that you haven't caught on to the fact that I was agreeing and pointing out germanshepards error in claiming "Alaska wasn't a state or part of the United States during WWII. Nice try keep going."

It was indeed part of the USA and it was indeed invaded by the Japanese.

How about the oddball calibers? Surely if it was panic buyers and new gunnies, the oddballs would still be quite available in bulk. And in calibers of no use to the government or military.

Panic buyers bought up everything this time.

Oddball calibers simply aren't being currently produced, because manufacturers can't keep up with the high demand calibers yet. Why change the line around and experience ANY down time when it makes zero economic sense?

I'm in purchasing at a plumbing and heating wholesaler.

EVERYTHING is hard to get right now for sure.

We're on allocation for everything from pex fittings to water heaters.

Price increases are coming weekly. copper and steel pipe prices are through the roof. And copper pipe is spotty to get.

You know. the same copper used in ammo.

So there's no conspiracy. Only an overloaded system of production, delivery. and demand.

I'm glad I was an ant and not a grasshopper when it came to ammo.

Thank you - Those stimulus checks are creating a classic inflationary environment. Too many dollars chasing to few goods.

Why people do not believe that shutting down all of these businesses will impact availability is beyond me. Then you have the waffling back and forth open close open close creating ripple effects.

The manufacturers are doing everything they can. They certainly want to max out their output. But, they will not create new capacity on what they know is short term.

If new plants were being built that would indicate their belief that the demand was long term.

This will pass, now I believe prices will not be back to pre-pandemic levels until all of the supply issues are worked out.

Actually, I missed something...

When I read your comment I thought it said "a war", meaning ANY war. I went back and reread it and discovered you said "THE war" as in the context of World War II.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Just bad eyes on my part!

This is just my H.O. BUT The trucking industry is WAY!!!! short of drivers. The company that I retired from is BEGGING for drivers. We have loads that should have been delivered weeks ago setting on the docks. The traffic mgr. turned in his notice. Hey you can produce all you want but if you can't get a truck to deliver it GOOD LUCK.

As stated Alaska was a territory during WWII it was NOT a state. Alaska became a state in 1959.

No no no. You said Alaska was not "a state or part of the United States" during WW2. It was most definitely a part of the US, and had been for many decades.
