Pop Tarts

My favorite's frosted cherry pop tarts. Haven't had any for a long time. I just can't justify the empty calories.

Three grams of protein for 370 calories? Doesn't fit in with my macros.

Never cared for the frosted kind or to have them toasted. It was always unfrosted blueberry, right out of the box, for me. Can't recall having any in a couple of decades, though.

Oddly enough, I recently went thru the pop tart isle a few months ago, as I was in the mood for a chocolate/fudge pop tart. Only to find out that they don't seem to make them any more. They had some sort of S'mores flavored one which turned out to be awful. I like S'mores but these weren't even close in taste.

I've looked a few times since then, but have yet to find the chocolate that used to seem as popular as the Strawberry. The local Publix shows them in stock, but I haven't found them and their aren't any empty spaces on the shelf next to the other flavors. Maybe it's a sign I don't need them in the house?

A properly oven-toasted frosted cinnamon brown sugar Pop Tart is the pinnacle of Pop Tart cuisine.

They can be consumed unheated, but it diminishes the enjoyment. Frosted strawberry may be substituted when cinnamon brown sugar is not available.

:p

Frosted strawberry here, but if you're going to toast them don't forget to butter the other side while it's hot. It just don't get any better than that.

Fresh out of my pantry:

I remember when we first began our military operations in Afghanistan. We were airdropping food to some hungry farmers and Popp Tarts were included. I remember one farmer saying that his family and goats would not eat the Pop Tarts, but his mule/donkey would.

I haven't eaten them in years, but when I did, it was un-frosted strawberry, toasted, with a generous amount of butter. Once upon a time, my cupboard was never without those or the original Chips Ahoy cookies.

When I worked midnight shifts on Guam I would get to the Mom and Pop store across from my apartment just as they were opening for the morning. A box of frosted blueberry Pop Tarts and a bottle of wine were waiting for me on the counter. Eat, drink, sleep, repeat.

Pop-Tarts and a cold beer were the way to start a Sunday A.M. Just enough to allow one to get a shower and start making a batch of Bloody Marie's, and head for the community pool. I am so happy that those days a way behind me:D

Perhaps a thread about those days?

I feel like we're heading there ourselves... :D

Lordy, lordy, the things that we survive when we're young and immortal!
