Finally got a chance to put some rounds down range today with my best friend. He just bought a Ruger Max 9 Pro and wanted to get some practice in with it. I already had my range tote ready with some I had not shot and a couple more that needed some testing after work done.

Quite a ways back I picked up one of the Israeli Beretta 1951's that cdisales was selling. According to the stamps on this one it was a former Israeli police gun. Nice trigger and very accurate. 3 inch groups at 7 yards were the norm and all it needs is a tweak of the rear sight to center them up on the target.

Had been having light strike/failure to fire issues with my new Ruger LCP II .22LR ever since I got it. Even the recommended CCI Minimags would FTF one to two time a magazine. Bulk Federal and some other older stuff I had would FTF about half the time. Really frustrating as I find it to be a accurate and otherwise fun to shoot little pistol. I found that Galloway Precision was selling a LCP II Lite Rack Pistol Spring Kit specifically designed to help with light strike issues. It worked perfectly. I fired several mags of CCI Minimags and several more mags that included Federal bulk, old Remington Viper and some unknown plain lead A stamped ammo I had. There was not a single FTF in the session. This LCP II has gone from a pain in the butt to my favorite .22 pistol in one range trip. I plan to carry it now when I am walking the dog.

My .22 Combat Masterpiece with Culina grips was next. This was the best group of the day, although the other groups fired SA were very similar. I really love a .22 revolver that shoots bulk Federal as good as this one does. Six shots and five holes at 7yd. Need to adjust some for windage and a smidge for elevation.

Last for today was the Model 14 no dash with Sanderson grips I picked up off GB for $400 a little while back. I had never tried shooting offhand/strong hand before so I ran a target out to 50 feet and tried it. For the first group through it off hand competitive style I was impressed. Or, at least I would have been if not for that one round up by the hammer in the pic. The rest of the group was quite acceptable to me. need to get the sights regulated and try again. The ammo was S&B 158gr FMJ. Would be interesting to see how some match wadcutters would do.

That 14 is a beauty. I regret selling the 14-3 I had. Looks like a good day at the range!

Did you ever talk to Ruger about the light strikes? Just wondering what Ruger would have done had you contacted them. But at least it is fixed and reliable now.

I did indeed call them, after I had put a couple hundred rounds through it with no improvement. The lady told me I needed to put at least 500 rounds through it before I called them again. I was not amused or impressed with that answer. From what I have seen online these LCP II's either work perfectly from the factory or they are like mine was originally, just bad.

I thought about buying one but after reading a lot from disappointed owners I’m glad I didn’t.
