Much thanks to Mark Hartshorne @Pinnacle.

This took about a year total, but well worth it to me.

Chop to 3 inches, round butt, fit 7 shot and keep the 6 shot ready to go with a few added parts. Fiber sight with dovetail, removed barrel markings with thin slab side.

Couple of quick shots from a challenged picture taker.

That turned out great, how much would a transformation like that run?

Shy of $600. Well worth it for a one off, imo. I’m into the gun for a bit over a grand, I think it may be worth a bit more.

Edit: The 7 rd cylinder was about $100. My apologies for leaving that out.

It’s beautiful. I think you could get every penny back if you had to sell it. Thanks for keeping me up to date on the progress.

Wow... and I have two 681s!

Now does it shoot POA at 20 yards with 125s or 158s?

Just got it an hour ago. Mark said 158’s, we’ll see.

FedEx guy “are you Michael”

Me “yep, my name is on the box, do I need to sign?”

FedEx guy “no”…….it was sent adult sig required.

Me “have a good one”

Beats the UPS guy who left my 38/44 on my porch @ 8:55 pm (beat the 9pm delivery promise by 5 minutes) when the box said “adult signature required”. No knock on the door.

I've got my duty retirement Sig P220 up at Sig now getting refurbished. Haven't got a shipment notice yet but should be soon. Just in time for the Xmas delivery thieves to go into overdrive. I hope the Fed Ex driver does the right thing.

Back to the 681.....I'm drooling. As one of my old MasterSgt's in the Corps used to say....."slicker than owl dung". I sold off just about all of my guns a few years back during a moment of insanity. I'll be satisfied with just getting a decent .357 back.

Another photo shoot is in order when you get a chance.

You’re right Mike, better pics are a must.

I may drop it off with my friend WCCPHD who takes great pics but I’m afraid he will lose the gun. :D

Absolutely beautiful 681. I have always had a soft spot for the fixed sighted L frames, but that revolver is as sweet as it gets. If it shoots half as good as it looks (and i have no doubt it will) you will have the perfect wheelgun!

There were a few variants of factory 3 inch 681’s. I think PC guns.
Maybe all were 7 shot?

I believe your right as I had read a post recently about them. I got all excited as those revolvers, like yours are ideal in my opinion… until I saw the price!! Yours is a steal for $1,000.
