So how cold is it outside?

Winter has come early...

It was so cold the other morning I saw a dog stuck to fire hydrant!

On Friday it's supposed to be cold and snowing from SW Pennsylvania up to the Great Lakes, so with discretion being the better part of valor I decided to cancel my prospective Christmas trip to Northeast Ohio to visit my brother. At my age and with my cardiac issues I didn't think driving into the teeth of a blizzard would be a good idea. My brother suggested that maybe we could get together for Groundhog Day.

Starting Wednesday AM and continuing till Saturday noon, winter storm watch, blizzard watch, wind chill warning. Snow 4-10 inches, wind 45mph,
actual temps 0 to 18 below zero. I certainly hope this is one of those times the weather talkers are wrong.

It is 44* and raining here right now but strong cold front coming by Thursday night and slight chance of the rain becoming, ugh, something else we don't often see here when temp gets to 15-20* Friday morning and Christmas Eve morning with daytime highs right at freezing. That is unusually cold here less than 20 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.

Gonna get serious here over the weekend!

hopefully we will get back above zero in couple of days

Supposed to be 62 tomorrow just after lunch and then drop to 21 by Friday morning. On Friday it may get up to right around freezing and the winds are supposed to be 20-30mph sustained, with 40mph gusts. Wind chill numbers in the single digits, which is pretty rare here in SE Texas.

I wish more people would display such good judgment. Over the yeas, driving a truck, driving a squad car, or in my own car, I have seen a lot of people who kept going when they were obviously afraid of the conditions and over their head.
It's similar to the boneheads who jammed airports over Thanksgiving to go someplace in spite of the flight problems and infectious disease spreading.
