Saw one today at the gun show. Gun is in decent condition, no box and one mag. I could have bought it for $650 out the door. Was this a good deal?

I don't need another .45 and its really too big for my hands.

I think it's pretty rare with less than 1000 made ( The experts can correct me). My quick research found that only 1 has sold in the last 6 months for around $950 on one of those auction web sites. Being a frame decocker if it has original grips in good condition someone could sell the grips to a S&W 1076 or 1026 owner needing to restore their pistol and you could modify Hogue grips to work on it and it would still be worth the $650.

I'm looking for a 4526, 4546 & a 4576....I would like to find one of each

Cheers!!!

4526 is rare, I have not seen one in quite awhile...same as the 4546 not many of each were made. 650 is a good price...

Yes the 4526, 4546, & 4576 are all rare. In my previous S&W 3rd gen collection I had all of them. I moved to the beach and rented a 700sf house while I built one. I sold my 73 variants of my S&W 3rd gen collection due to lack of storage space. I am now starting my collection back. Those 3 S&W 45's I lack in my S&W 45 collection. I have replaced the rest of the 45's.

Cheers!!!

I have a 4546 and wonder if anyone knows how many were produced. I always see that they are "rare" but haven't seen a number. Mine sat in my LGS quite awhile before I decided to bring it home.

The only numbers I have seen the production quantity is "less than 500"

Luckily when I went back to the gun show yesterday it was gone. Don't have to worry about buying another gun I will never shoot.

Glad it sold before you went back. I've bought some guns I didn't want or need just because they were rare. The just sit in the safe.
