Saw this in a local forum this morning. Traded a Kimber snubbie for it. This Highway Patrolman is just the way that I like to find them. Very good condition, but not perfect. It will see some range and hiking trail time.

How do you feel about the rounded grip frame? I often use a pair of SB conversion Magnas. As seen on this ACP Mountain Gun.

Looks great. What did you do to finish off the rounded frame? Yours does not look reblued.

Looks sharp

Correct, it is not refinished. The barrel is original to the revolver, just bored to handle the 45 caliber bullet. The shiny cylinder is new, 45 ACP. The grip frame? Well, since you asked, I did nothing to it. I did not even continue the grooves in the backstrap. I will post an image, later, when I find one.

Found it, the revolver in the middle.

I'm not a prolific collector of Model 28s, and don't have Elon Musk's cash, so it took me a while to assemble my modest family of Highway Patrolman revolvers. The three Model 28-2s were purchased in 2009, 2014, and 2018...all at local gun shows. Funny thing is, they are all in the s/n N2xx range and manufactured between 1974-1977 (per SCSW 4th Ed.). The fact that they are all from the same time period was totally accidental. As NCBeagle says: "This Highway Patrolman is just the way that I like to find them. Very good condition, but not perfect." None of mine is perfect, but they're all great mechanically and are excellent shooters. Enjoy!

Magnum loads all day long. I love an N frame with the standard barrel.

Being fond of 4" barrels, square butts & adjustable sights, I think the 4" HP should have been named the Combat MegaMasterpiece!

I don't have a 28, mine is a 4" HP from '55.

I would've traded a Kimber for that 28 any day and twice on Sunday!! Congrats. A purchase of a 28 is what brought me to this forum, it's long gone but one of these days I hope to get another.

I definitely have a preference for square butts on anything over 3" barrel length, and am starting to wish my 4" 625 .45 Colt MG had the same butt as my 4" 624. However, the RB is OK on my 6.5" 1899 .32-20, perhaps because it's historic and not a EDC working gun.
