smith and Wesson 66-2 2.5 inch

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend! I have a gentleman locally who has a collection of Smith and Wesson revolvers and the chance to score a Model 66-2 might be in the works.

I really have grown to love revolvers. I was big into 10MM pistols and steel frame handguns but my love for revolvers is now taking over……

This is Model 66-2 no box, matching grips… (I think )

Is $800 too much ?

It'd be pretty special if you found a 2-1/2" 66 for $600. I'd say $800 is a good deal.

I have seen them go for up to $1,000 / $1,200 in last couple of years. It looks in very good shape. I don’t think $800 is outrageous but try and get him down to $700ish. My buddy paid $1,000 for one very similar but with box a couple of years ago.

My favorite model in my favorite barrel length. If the condition was very nice it would be hard for me to turn down.

Even if $600 is truly fair and it's $800, two hundred more for a hard to find pistol is worth it imo. How many weeks or days will it take you to make up the difference of $200 is how I look at it considering the gun's availability.

I haven't seen any of these for $600. It is in very very very good shape. Its a beautiful revolver that I can carry. I did recently get a very good deal on a pre model 28 and I will not lose sleep over $200.

This reminds me of being at a gunshow probably 12 years ago and a guy had a 66 no dash in 2.5 inch bbl that had been issued to a Kentucky State Prison. It didn't have a box and there was a state prison badge engraved on the side of the receiver but it's condition was excellent and you could tell it had hardly been fired. Price was $350 OTD and I wound up buying something else. That one still haunts me.

I'd consider $600 to be very good deal for a -2 2.5 inch and wouldn't hesitate to give $800 for a nice one. I have a few and always looking for nice 2.5" and 3" models.

$800 is a good deal. Of course I like to get ‘em as cheap as possible, but I’d buy em for $800 all day long.

Thats exactly what I intend to do! I really thought that 6 inch barrels were more sought after. I personally enjoy shooting longer barrels for velocity purposes. I will now start adding 2.5, 3 inch and 4 inch revolvers!

The time to buy it is when you see it. If I saw one for $600 later, I'd buy that one too. Then keep the best one and trade the other for something cool. Do you feel enabled yet?
