This morning’s CEO assassination in NYC

United Health Care seems to upset a lot of folks, search for UHC contract negotiations on your favorite engine and see where it goes. Change Health Care a subsidiary companies farm out their medical coverage billing to was hacked supposedly affecting 100,000,000 Americans.

This is the first time I remember reading about a suppressor being used in a crime. Kind of like Las Vegas was the first time I heard about bump stocks being linked to a crime. I hope the suppressor I ordered for my 10/22 gets approved and processed before the Executive Orders start getting signed.

My immediate thoughts were disgruntled customer or employee. It is a shame that people do these things, and my heart goes out to the family.

As far as the silencer and gun, I agree with above comments. My suppressors require an adapter for semi auto guns to ensure cycling. I would bet the equipment was not set up properly.

I think it's some one who lost a family member. He believes that a treatment denied by UHC would have saved his loved one. If so, he may (with a good lawyer) cop an insanity plea. I also think he had no idea how to use the weapon as indicated by the ejected live rounds. Too many TV shows depict the slide being cycled every time the weapon is deployed, so he thought that was needed.

At least that's what I told my wife this morning.

Thompson was part of a DOJ investigation on insider training and had personally sold over 15 million of stock. United Health CEO made 85 million profit from the sale of his stock. Maybe a disgruntled person who lost a lot of money?

Or maybe Thompson knew too much. Or threatened to become a whistle blower. Many possibilities for the cops, FBI, etc. to look into.

Doesn't look like the rounds he was using would cycle the gun, common with certain suppressors and subsonic 9mm.

Could the pistol used have a slide lock?

Don't know anything how slide locks work on suppressed firearms but the S&W 39 Hushpuppy utilized this system.

Shoot, unlock, rack slide/chamber new round and re-lock slide?
Might explain spent rounds found but not the live ones. Doesn't explain why something like that would be needed in NYC.

The news report I heard this morning said each cartridge case had writing on it and probably why he left the loaded cartridges? Also like some one else stated that insurance company leads all others in denied claims, going back to it was personal.

When I was gainfully employed, I worked with several insurance companies and UHC was the worst by far. They would lie right to your face and do the exact opposite of what they had agreed to do. That doesn't justify murder but I can certainly understand someone being upset with them.
