Missed is an Intel organization. They use their own people, not contract employees.

The term was "dedicated assassins", not "contract employees". I doubt some upper level Mossad person calls the typing pool and asks if Talia or Hannah wants to whack an enemy of the state.

I remember reading that the Mossad normally deployed teams of multiple shooters, all of whom used .22 Berettas. They would all open up on the targeted individual.

Police in Pennsylvania are questioning a man in connection with the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, NBC News reported.
The man was found with a gun that is similar to the one used to kill the 50-year-old Thompson last Wednesday in New York City, according to NBC.
Once at the police station, the sources said, officers discovered the man had a gun similar to the one used in Thompson's killing, as well as a silencer and a fake New Jersey ID. The gunman allegedly used a fake New Jersey ID when he checked into a Manhattan hostel last month.

There's quite a difference between dedicated assassins and covert special operations personnel who have a kill mission once or twice a career.

Yes, that's what was just announced. Captured in a McDonald's in Altoona PA. He may have had the murder weapon on him.

It is unlikely that the pistol was a dedicated platform that had to be hand cycled after each shot. IIRC, the Seals had such a platform called a "hush puppy" in VietNam, which was a specially modified M59 S&W. These platforms may exist, but are so arcane that they more of a collector's item than a murderer's tool.
My bet is a standard 9mm platform with some kind of cobbled up suppressor and inadequately powered generic ball. I don't think this is an experienced/skilled shooter based on the hit to the calf.
I am bothered by the potentially unequal effort put in to this case. Admittedly, as others have noted a typical NYC homicide probably has different facts and circumstance that make an investigation harder, so there may be a reason for the differences ...

I'm left shaking my head that they are still pursuing the Welrod/B&T angle. Looking at the videos online of such weapons being fired and comparing them with the murder video, the hand actions look entirely different to me. Somebody in the media or LE has made up their mind about this and refuses to be told otherwise.

I don't think it's a weird fascination. I think people are just rooting for the police to catch a bad guy.

My wife has a TikTok account she uses to score recipes. She is having to scroll past a lot of videos on the shooting, and so far she says very few rooting for LE.
