TISAS ?

I've owned two Tisas, a 10mm D10 and one of their .45 "Duty" models.

The D10 was very ammo-sensitive. I ended up selling it. 10mm 1911s are tricky, in my experience.

The Duty .45 is outstanding. Extremely reliable. I use it for most of my 1911 range practice and dry fire in order to reduce wear on my nicer 1911s. All of the internals are stock except for a heavier Wilson recoil spring, and I generally use Wilson magazines, too.

I have a couple 1911A1 Tisas. Zero issues. Seems almost redundant tagging this onto 2 pages of mostly glowing reviews.

"Boringly reliable" applies here like it does to Glocks.

The one thing Tisas does well is expose the lie that steel guns are just too expensive to manufacture any more for less than an arm and a leg.

I have several and gave one to my daughter (the nickel finish caught her eye). All have been very good and the triggers are especially noteworthy.

I bought a Tisas M1911A1 Government in 45 cal. It is good replica of the issued pistol made in Turkey. OD green, lousy sights. But that pistol was basically intended to be a point blank range defensive pistol. It does shoot well and is tight (no rattling). Last year I purchased a LE trade-in M&P 45 M2.0. Clean and any observable wear was holster wear from a Kydex holster. I use that pistol mostly.

In the 80's I had gone thru some junk 1911's, Auto Ordinance, Springfield, older GI. It was stated in a local gun shop that you could buy a Colt for 700$, then spend another 700$ just to get it to function. Blames were put on bullet shape, magazine followers, grip strength. Then I got a Kimber Custom from Yonkers. No more trouble ever again. I am vey suspicious of any more 1911's unless proved to work as intended. Has the world changed since then?
Yes, it has. Tisas is one of several very good quality firearms companies which have sprung up in Turkey. Canik is another one. Yildiz makes very good and inexpensive shotguns. I do not own any of these yet. Mrgunsandgear is a youtube shooter of some justified quality, i.e., he's not an idiot and thoroughly reviews guns, if it's a piece of junk, he'll tell you, if it's good enough for him to buy, he'll tell you that too. He is very impressed with Tisas and Canik quality and bang for buck. Canik packages come with several (more than 2) magazines, holsters, complete cleaning kits and other accessories. I was impressed if the CMP offers Tisas pistols on their website, they must be pretty good quality. Several gun tubers have reported very good results with them. I too, soured on Colt's undeserved reputation for quality after spending WAY TOO MUCH MONEY making a Colt run properly, when I should have done so RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. So, yes, I get what you're saying. I don't think these guns are gonna have much resale value, but if you're looking for a shooter, they're half the price of a domestic name brand gun. Just my $0.02. Just about everything i say on this forum is crapped on by somebody with something to prove. I am just passing along my impressions from digesting gun related stuff. Haven't shot a Tisas yet. I will soon.

No need to be angered and defensive. I've already mentioned my positive thoughts on the Tisas 1911. I'll certainly not disparage them, but I just bought a new Colt 1911 .45 and it works fine, straight out-of-the-box, perhaps as well as a Tisas.

At the wife's urging we visited four gun shops on the fourteenth (tax free) and I found a Tisas stainless Duty in 45, looked it over and took it home. Only had about forty round available as I've not shot 1911s in years. Also picked up a 1978ish Colt Gold Cup the Saturday before so I'm gonna have to start loading for them again.

I have two, in 9mm. The Tank Commander and Stingray. Niether are still stock, but both are very solid.

IMG_3356.webpThe D10 will also reliably run 9MM rim size ammo like the 9X23 Winchester with no extractor tweaking.

Purchased a Tisas Zigana PX-9 from a LGS for $200. It was a (very lightly) used model with the Philippine Police markings. I've shot over 500 rounds of reloads, mixed cheap factory ball ammo, factory defensive ammo and not one misfire or failure. Night sights, extra mags, carry case including a functional Kydex holster.

It simply works... everytime.

Definitely worth what I paid for it.

As good as any M1911A1 I was issued (USGI stock and match) and those were good enough. My USAF match pistol was made by Remington during WWII and was 10 years older than I was at the time it was issued to me. My Tisas is as reliable as it was.

I've enjoyed the functionality and accuracy of both my 2011s. No issues after a few hundred rounds. Fitment seems to be done well. I like them. Both 9mm.
