Pluck it, shave it, use dipilatory or juse braid it??? As I get older my body starts to do (and sprout) stuff it didn't do when I was younger-for all you young guys-go ahead and laugh-you'll get there soon enough :(

Ear hair? Like.... that stuff on corn? I just pull off as much as I can before I cook it... and then the rest usually comes off easy after. ;)

Burn it!!!

In Iraq, some of the barbers would take a piece of paper towel and light it on fire. Then, they would take it and quickly move it around your ears to get rid of the unwanted hair. All this, plus a haircut was only $3-$5. Here in ConUS, my barber takes the clippers to it about once a month. Of course, she cuts my hair weekly, so she stays on top of it.

Been meaning to get my wife in there with a set of tweezers but in the interim have been making do with pinching it and yanking it out upon occasion. This is not entirely satisfactory (but works in a pinch).

Now the guy I admire, a real man's man, is our Gatorfarmer who uses a leatherman tool on his nose hair! Whoa! I think the CIA shoulda come up with the leatherman/nose hair enhanced interrogation technique, forget waterboarding.

My wife trims it with a small battery razor as she does my nose. No fooling! Since I had my nose cut off due to cancer and a new one built with a scalplock, I have to shave my nose! I been threating to let it grow out, but she wont have that. She inspects me every two days and gets out the razor for what I miss.
Once many years ago I saw the weirdest thing. There was a old tourist from probley tibet or china in the crowd at disneyland. He had let his ear hair grow and had a thin braid about a foot and half long out of each ear! Would have great possibilitys for a foe in a fight!

I haven't paid for a haircut in about 4 years. One of the first things I did after BMT was buy a set of clippers. Best investment I ever made. After short learning period I can now give myself any style......as long as it's short, shorter, or high and tight.

Andis clippers...plug in type. Battery powered ones don't work for me.

Occasionally, whilst sober, use my Gillette Fusion razor to crop it close. Don't forget the hair on top your ears. Grows there, too.

Note: Though none of them have gone beyond the compliment, many young ladies have stated they admire my grooming. No ear or nose hair, regular manicures/pedicures, and a shower every three days or so.

Be safe.

I use the little straight, AA battery powered straight clipper. You can really route out the ears inside and on the outer curves. They work well on a light nose hair trim when you don't need the tiny shears and that clipper works very well in "other" places as well. Pinches hardly at all unless you really get down on it. It can glide very smoothly and will do double duty on contrary/unruly under arm hair too. Seriously. Wilson

Hey Caj, I'm only 34 and I've been getting a few stragglers for the past couple of years. As the old joke goes, why does it fall off your head and grow places you don't want it?

Because you asked...

Hair growth is very susceptible to hormones, to the so-called sex steroid hormones: principally oestrogens and androgens. The dominant hormone for males is in the androgen category, particularly testosterone. Surprisingly the levels of testosterone continue to increase with age up until the age of 70. Since most of male hair is responsive to androgens with age and with increasing hormone levels you tend to get more and more vigorous hair growth particularly in the areas that were perhaps not as robust as when the individual was younger. For example, on the nose, ears and on their eyebrows. The nose and the ears have got thousands and thousands of hairs. They're so small you can't see – in fact the tip of the nose is the hairiest part of the body in terms of density of hairs per unit area. With time these can be stimulated with these male hormones which go up with age and therefore can become more cosmetically visible with age. The same applies for the eyebrows and for the ears. In women their oestrogen levels drop after menopause and their lower levels of testosterone become more engaged with the process of hair growth because they stimulate whereas oestrogens tend to inhibit. You're just releasing more stimulatory power from the androgens we have.

I pluck mine out with my government issue tweezers (my fingers ;)) and mix them up in my wife's coffee every morning. :D

HA! Naw...just kidding.

Or am I?

(BTW, GREAT pic J/L!)
Ironic ain't it? The hair on top goes away and now sprouts every where else!
The high quality tweezer routine here.
(TIP: LED flashlight held at a hard angle in a dark bathroom, makes them easier to see. Also that way even if you don't get all of 'em, you won't be as painfully aware as I am of just how old and ugly I've become!)

I usually wind up selling it in quantity to either to my local herbalist who makes some really good potions with it, but lately she's been down on her luck- so I've sold it to an online discount witch doctor supply house that was advertising "Cash 4 ear hair!"
:D
