Area of Concern

There's a lesson from overseas on this. After Germany reunited, the various Federal agencies "knew" that former terrorists (Red Army Faction/Baader-Meinhof Gang and others) had been honored citizens of the East German regime. However, it was going to take extensive data mining in records to find them.

Very aware of what took place under the Third Reich, there was a lot of very heated debate on this but eventually, a bill that authorized the search methods passed, but with a time limit*. They got the vast majority of the wanted terrorists, but the Bundestag refused to extend the law to get the rest.

This involved serious crimes, not speculative "pre crime". I do believe there's a message here if we're bright enough to heed it.

*They may also have been limited in their targets for investigation.

The one thing malign actors hate more than anything is an irrefutable fact. Proof of that is the ongoing al Shabab IED campaign against closed-circuit TV that captures images of their members collecting extortion payments in Mogadishu and elsewhere in Somalia. When their informants tell them of a business or businesses putting up CCTV, the businesses first get threatening phone call from 'burner' phone sims; if they don't desist, they might get a bomb. The more profitable the business (more can be extorted from these), the greater the risk.

From January - 12 dead. I had to screen through the photos to keep from having body parts included. The primary targeted business is one our contractors also occasionally used.

Malign foreign governments have legions of trolls employed to influence social media in Western nations, people whose job it is to spread disinformation, stir the pot, and disrupt societies. For the most part, they're well-trained and very good at what they do.

Unfortunately, not limited to "foreign" governments.

This boobtube vid is viral. From another forum:

Lets see now. You purchase 90% of your guns through dealers and fill out a 4473. You have a CHL, hunting license, range membership, belong to the NRA, and GOA, watch firearms reviews on YouTube, frequent firearms related forums and firearms manufactures web sites. You are and will remain safe from Uncle Sugar as long as you don't post any photos of your firearms on-line.
Got it.

Unless you're living off the grid Ted Kazinsky-ish, you're already on the radar.
However, since there are ~500 million firearms in private ownership, that's a rather large database for Big Brother to monitor.

Myself, I've got other things to worry about. Like, as soon as I finish this cup of coffee, I've got to cut the grass.

It's refreshing to see that the Internet obsessors have another perceived worry to agonize over.

Okay: "The border is secure."

Nope; that wasn't the conversation. Here's what you responded to and said:

You:

Where are the 'legions of trolls employed' by our government 'whose job it is to spread disinformation, stir the pot, and disrupt societies...'? Please be specific - what agency do these trolls work for, and who pays them? With Russian disinformation it is not hard to identify the likes of the 13,000-strong 'Trolls from Olgino.'

Remember - it was your assertion. Just curious about its factual, verifiable foundation.
