Admin Edit-
Thanks, Kris. You could have asked me about a link.
This guy needs to get shut down.
I wonder if the companies would push him on logo infringement if we contacted them?
We'll make an EXCEPTION in this case about the link rule.
See his stuff on ebay here-

See his stuff on GunBroker here-
Rifles, Shotguns and Handguns for Sale - Buy Handguns, Rifles, and Shotguns Online at GunBroker.com

I recommend-
ebay has a "Report item" link on every auction. It can be hard to see, so look at the pic attached below with a big yellow arrow to help locate it.
Let's send ebay THOUSANDS of reports telling them his items are fake!
When you click 'Report item", you have to make choices from a menu, then go to the second page for the description. Pic of second page with all choices made is also shown below.
I suggest clicking-
Report item
Copyright and trademark
Counterfeit item or authenticity disclaimer
Counterfeit, fake, or replica items

Last, you get to add a "Brief Description"
I suggest-
He is counterfeiting items for collectible guns. Original boxes can add 100's of $ to value of guns!

Let's work at this!
ebay WILL respond if they get buried in reports.

original post-

It appears the outfit who has been churning out repro colt boxes, labels, etc has started on Smith & Wesson.

Beware.

I'd love to post the link but can't.

Direct quote from the listing;

"When you purchase please tell me your Serial Number... S&W Wrote the serial number on the bottom of the box with a old first grade pencil and I'll add it for you"

Also, he just happens to have SEVEN of these Mint, New Old Stock boxes on hand......

With reproduced end labels, boxes were never very far behind. Bloody shame they exist. Worse people will use them for dishonest pursuits.

He is a crook and make sure you keep your eyes open for this stuff as the price of old Smiths continue to rise.

He has made a killing on the Colt boxes, and many people buy his stuff to boost the value considerably. He has also gotten quite good with the Colt repros and they are getting harder to spot.

Also, he pretty much makes up all kinds of other fake accessories for these manufacturers too. Like sights, grips, etc. Most of the time he will flat out lie and say they are NOS for everything he has.

If you see him advertising NOS on ebay, report the listings. I have reported hundreds in past. Last I checked, he no longer stated NOS for the Colt stuff there.

Is this our old buddy blovit on eBay? He's benn pulling this stuff with Colts for years. He USED to say that he had run across a warehouse with genuine boxes, but has backed off on that claim.

Well his name is Dennis and he shows Sparta, Tenn as the address. Perhaps you boys should pay him a visit???

PS: I emailed him and asked if the box was original or a reproduction as it seems so pristine. We shall see what he says.

I looked at one of the fake Colt boxes over the weekend at the Phoenix Crossroads Show. While they are good they're easily detectable when compared side by side with an original. The dealers that had this box told me the faker was having them made in China and they were getting closer to the originals.

It's a shame people have to do this. At least he/they chose a more common box to start with and not something more scarce. At $225 I doubt he sells many.

This outfit would be better off advertising as repro and selling for $50-100 (while still making money). They could stamp reproduction into the bottom inside of the box or something so they aren't taken for original

Beware fake S&W boxes

I've recently purchased a Colt ACE box from him. Never thought I'm buying an original, just a repro. Not cheap, but the real one would cost many times more, not to mention the condition. The box is very well made, and its better - for me - to keep my gun in that nice looking box than just wrapped up. Didn't feel he's trying to sell it as the real thing (maybe he learned a lesson by that time?). Then asked how much would a box for my New Navy Colt would cost; the quote was too much, so didn't follow up.

Couple of thoughts:

1. The originals of that 4" M&P box do not sell for $225.

2. He lists the box as a 1920 vintage box. I think the two-piece box vintage is early post war. I have several of the original boxes similar to the one he is offering and they were numbered to post war "S" SN guns. The pre-war M&P boxes of the late 20's through the start of the war were the hinged patent box, which my guess is that they'd be pretty expensive to reproduce...

Pre war M&P box labeled for a target gun, but the standard fixed site M&P's came in the same box (the only one I could find quickly in my photos)...

Well, I left a report, and it looks like he is just getting started on us. Most of his stuff is aimed at the Colt trade (what are we? Second class victims? I'm offended!!!). I've actually seen a lot of the Colt stuff, and nothing could be around as long as this stuff is supposed to have existed, and still look just as if it was made today. But I guess one could go on and fake aging the fake box, and eventually end up with one that would look authentic. Geeze, depressing.

Thanks for the heads up, Kris, and Lee. If I liked posts above, it wasn't because I "liked" the message, but that I appreciate keeping us aware of what's going on.

Best Regards, Les
