The search is over. Have arrived at Valhalla.
4-inch Model 57-1 like NIB (without the box, but also without any dings, nicks, and only two tiny little bright spots near the muzzle on either side that have now been touched up).

I slapped on a set of old Altamonts as they seem to fit my hand a hair better; they used to grace my 6-inch Model 57, which NOW has a set of superb Eagle Custom Classic grip panels, that REALLY fit my hand.

Quick trip to the range, about 50 rounds @ 25 yards, adjust rear sight for windage right and my final rounds were shooting chunks of broken orange clay targets out of the berm, using my own 210-gr. Noslers over 19 grs of H110 off sandbag rest.

$875 for:

Revolver w/factory rosewood or walnut checkered grips
250 rounds of ammunition
2 HKS speed loaders
1 brand new set RCBS dies

You may all now bow down and slobber with envy! :D

Holy Moly that's a nice gun! I have to put on my chin mounted drool bucket when I look on these forums.

Whoa, HOLD IT! STOP THE PRESSES!!!

"Chin-mounted drool bucket?"

That's it. Screw the gun pictures.

I think you owe the rest of us a photo of that device. Installed.

ROTFLMAO.

Either I must be too old or it's a little too early in my morning for that kind of image to be blasted into my brain.

Great googly boogly! You pulled a good deal on that piece!:D

I believe so.
The revolver had apparently been in this seller's gun safe for several years. Told me that he got it in a private sale but had never fired it. When I took it to the range, my guess is that it had maybe a box or two of ammo through it.
Naturally I am delighted. It's a very good shooter, too, as noted above. My guess is that anything within 100 yards is probably toast.
I've taken two deer with a Ruger .41 Magnum so I have experience with this cartridge. It's a sizzler when loaded properly. I told a guy via e-mail today that the .41 IMHO is the "civilized magnum." :D

You did real well there! I like the 4" barrel N frame .41 magnums myself. I wobble too much with the longer barrel guns.

I sold this one a few years ago because the factory told me it would take nearly a year to refinish it. My mistake.

Oh, ****! I just slobbered on my keyboard!

YOU need a CHIN-MOUNTED DROOL BUCKET!
On sale now on television (not available in stores) and if you order within the next 15 minutes, you get a second drool bucket absolutely free (just pay for the shipping and handling).

Anybody else got some snazzy photos? Let's see um!

Congratulations! Nice to see someone so excited about their acquisition.

Here's my 357 Nightguard 41 Mag. It is a dream to shoot. I looked for a Model 57 or 58 for a long time but had to "settle" for this (as of then) unfired 41 Mag that was hidden in a disused lavatory or something in my LGS. Cost me $750.00, I didn't even try to negotiate. It is also easy to CCW.

You did well on that one. I would have jumped all over it. It is a beauty.

Well, I did some additional photos for a magazine column I write at GUN WORLD.
Here are a couple of out-takes. I knocked out a half-fancy holster for it, and that gunbelt is one I put together several years ago for my Ruger Blackhawk.

I ran across a full box of 220-grain Speer half-jacket softnose bullets that I'm going to load up for this gun. Those are the ones with the semi-wadcutter front end of lead projecting above the half-jacketed base.

OK, here we are, two months after the acquisition, and there has been a fair amount of powder burned and lead out of the spout. Can say without a doubt this may have been one of the smartest deals I ever made.
The revolver has been firewood cutting and hunting with me and will be traveling out of state on a November mule deer hunt. It's been a busy little beaver!

Chaps?? Rattler country?? Nice score by the way. A good friend of mine that I hunt with swears by his S&W .41 magnum and has killed may deer with it as proof! I myself prefer the venerable .44 mag. But that's just me. Both calibers get the job done nicely.
