45 ACPWheel Gun Love It Or Leave It

Some different primers seem to have a lot harder case especially Winchester. Somewhere in this forum is a reference to a chart showing the different hardness of primers. I have installed the Apex extended firing pin and spring kit but to be 100% reliable I stick to Federal Primers. e.

45 ACPWheel Gun Love It Or Leave It

I assume you mean 625 not 645. I have a PC625 4" and it is a hoot. I like a light trigger so to have it at 8.5 lbs I have to be sure to keep to ammo that uses federal primers. Good handling and good accuracy. e.

    66-2

Thanks for the replies, Iwas having trouble reading between the lines in the SCSW. Since the -3 came out in 1986 guess that narrows it down pretty well. Price is a little higher than I expected but of course I'm looking to buy not sell. What was the correct original grip for this gun from the...

    66-2

Been looking at a 66-2 with 4" barrel. According to SCSW it places it 1982-1986 but I can't find the serial number in the appendex AUF92XX. Can anybody narrow down the date a bit or tell me where to find it short of a letter from S&W. Nice shape, S&W Pachmayr grips, shot very little but no box...

    NRA Membeship

I see a large amount of posters that don't display the NRA emblem. Is it that they don't belong, is there some organization that does a better job for us, or is there some reason that it is better to leave the emblem off? My thought is that it is the least we can do, it's like not voting and...

    Unique 7 Shot L Frames

If you don't mind me asking what did you have to pay for the 686-5 3" I had one in my hands last week but backed off because a friend of mine was looking at it. End result neither of us got it. $450 and I had the money with me, DUMB......... e.

    extra hole in 629-3, 8 3/8" Classic

You have a DX style interchangable front sight. This is where the spring and plunger are installed. By pressing the sight to the rear the sight clears the retaining pin and lifts out. Makes the bad guy think you have a double barrel. e.

A question about replacing a rear sight

The rear blade and screw is available for about $12 and I would think that a gunsmith wouldn't charge much over $25 to change it. Another alternative is to buy the complete sight for $55 and change the whole sight yourself, it's held on with one screw at the forward end of the sight assy. e.

How level is your rear sight blade??

If the blade changes level when you adjust the windage screw the only cause is that the windage screw itself is bent. This is easly caused be bumping the blade at some time. It can be corrected with patience and a small tapping hammer or by replacing the screw. e

Tell me about the performance center 627...

Have a PC627-5, prefer the smooth trigger over the JM groved and also like the grips better though have changed them for Ahrends. Really like the gun and moon clips. Shoot plates but only as a fun sport not necessarily competitively, only with myself. Hate it when I always lose. e.

442 Pro "Moon Clip": Does it have any carbon steel on it?

A magnet is not a true test for stainless steel. Magnets stick to carbon steel and most stainless steels used in guns. Has to do with the alloy used to give it strength. Check the properties in Wikipedia. I have PC627 & PC625, Frame, barrel, cyl, etc are all magnetic. e. Stainless steel -...

    TUNING the thumb safety

It's not the notch in the plastic. If you field strip the weapon and pull the pins to remove the sear assembly the safety will come with it. There you will see the notches that need reshaping. e. M&P40 Armorer Manual
