I have a Taurus Raging Bull in .41 mag. Haven't had any problems out of it. Enjoy shooting it a lot. That being said, the trigger is not as smooth as my model 57, or even my Redhawk. Fit and finish is not as good either. It did not cost all that much, especially compared to my Smiths...

My normal CCW is the LCR in .357. I chose it over several others because it was the one I shot more accurately, consistently than other. Tried several at a local range that lets you 'rent' guns to shoot. I have big hands and it does tend to 'squirm' a little with heavier .357 defense loads...

I think the stainless ones are more common, but still pretty rare. I recently got a blued .41 redhawk w/7 1/2 barrel. No box, but sounds like the same type condition you describe. Paid $600, and think that was a pretty good deal. Red hawks in .41 mag are hard to come by. Ones on GB usually...

I have a Bersa ultra compact in .45. Picked it up used for very little $. It shoots suprisingly well, and is my alternate concealed carry. The finish on mine is terrible looking, a common fault as I understand. But since it stays covered most of the time, who cares.
