15-22 Accuracy (For the nonbelievers)

M&P 15-22 Accuracy

Here's some recent shots at 25 yards. The right hand 3 are from my 10/22 with a Green Mountain barrel and a Vortex 4X scope. The bottom target was before adjusting the scope a little up. The left had 3 are from my M&P 15-22 with a Sightron 3-9 scope set at 4X. I don't know what caused the flyer on the lower left target. I do get them from time to time with any bulk ammunition. There are 10 rounds in all but the left upper two targets. The ammunition is Federal 525 pact copper plated hollow point. Both were rested on a sand bag. I love the M&P 15-22 for jack rabbits.

25 yrds, cheating UTG 4x scope, Federal Bulk Ammo.... :) I like my grouping

Let's see some 50-yard 5-shot groups with the bulk ammo.

mine doesn't seem to care what kind of ammo goes through it.

i do want to get a barrel nut wrench to confirm its tight.
but i also didn't get my M&P to bench it. its my AR trainer for "out back" at the range since they don't allow rifle calibers.

this is my 10/22 that sees some bench time. but i also know what ammo it likes :D

Now glockeyed's target looks similar to what I get out of my 15-22 as it is no tack driver unless the head of the tack is the size of a hockey puck. Granted the 15-22 is the most cool looking and fun to shoot 22rimfire rifle I own but my Ruger 10-22 is better and my Remington bolt action 541S will shoot better than both of them. The 541S almost seems unfair when it comes to shooting gophers where the 15-22 gives the gophers a real sporting chance. I don't doubt some of the great targets shown here but my 15-22 won't shoot those groups no matter what ammo and I have tried them all. If I bring a box of 50 for the 15-22 I can expect 20 gophers if I bring the 10-22 I can expect 30 gophers if I bring the 541S I can expect 45 gophers.

Well this was from the first time i took mine to the range...offhand at 25 yds...

Shooting back in Missouri off my hood...

This here is one of my targets trying out some ammo...you can see there is a big difference between bulk ammo and some of the better stuff at 75 yds.

(upper right and left groups were with a bolt .22 for comparison)

Have had the best results with the winchester sub-sonic ammo.

And this is a target a shot at 70 yds testing out the CCI Stingers i have... They are old so that may be it, but that is a bulk ammo 16 shot group and 2 8-shot groups of stinger on the left and bottom left?

Accurate? My 15-22 is definitely accurate enough for me

If you want to remove as much of the shooter as possible from your group results, shoot from a mechanical rifle rest. That will show you how accurate your rifle/ammo combination is.

Yeah I have a lead sled and been meaning to try the .22's put on it...

Honestly I prefer to just shoot off sandbags. With a front and rear bag I can do just as well or close if there's a stable bench to shoot off of...

Been stocking up on different brands of ammo so sometime this week I'll go out and see what I can get for accuracy at 50, 75, and 100 yds...and it is a 300 yd range so if my shooting is on maybe i'll extend the test out a ways :D

I was out today, not the best conditions. Temp 34, slight breeze ~8-10mph crosswind. These are from a solid standing rest about 5' high wearing heavy duck hunting jacket, hat and gloves. The front of my gun was resting on a box of Fed 550. The last box of ammo I ran through the gun was American eagle so I knew I would have to adjust my scope.
Bottom left 40yrds scope on 4 power.
Bottom right 40yrds two clicks down one right.
Top right I moved the target in to 30yrds and moved the scope one click down and tuned the scope up to 7.
Top left 30yrds -PRICELESS.
This is an air-gun target and I’m not sure if the spacing between the rings is the same as most targets so I added I dime for reference.

I went out saturday myself it was cold windy my shots were all over the place so i froze my brass casings after firing two mags had to call it quits will go to the indoor range this sat and see how i fair hopfully repeat what i did on my last six targets... happy shooting and thanx for the post

Bullseye handgun shooting is done at 25 and 50yds with one hand standing. The 10 rings are 1.5" and 3.3" respectively. Top scores are 90 of 100 pts. Shot with .22's.

Darn it! I guess I'll just have to go shooting again tomorrow. Apparently most just buy the guns and accessories and never shoot.
