15-22 Accuracy (For the nonbelievers)

20 or so Yrds with red dot using gear bag as a rest today. It will do better shooting slower. I was shooting pretty fast that time

I've never stretched the legs of any of my 22LR's...so today, I went to the 100yd range and tried my luck.

The 15-22 did great, IMO. Used a cheap-o bipod on a sling-stud / picatinny rail adapter.

Started at 50 yards...shot slow with the iron sights, and pretty fast with the Bushnell "T-dot" sight:

(I think that was ~60rds on each target...might have been 50 on one, and 75 on the other)

Then moved over a few spots to a 100 yard target (and took off the front iron sight, so it wasn't in the way of the dot):

I think I've read that the bullet drop is around 6" at 100yds, so i just aimed at the very top-center of the target...and ran through another 100 rounds:

...

I'm impressed with this rifle!!!

I don't consider myself a marksman, and I wasn't looking for every-hole-touching...but I was still amazed that almost every round at 100yds hit the target!!!

15 yards, standing, cheap BSA red dot, I can't seem to get it dialed in, I was aiming at the 6" bullseye about 6" below this group. The group was a full 25 round clip, Blazer bulk ammo, rapid fire.

This is my best so far. 2 Mags (50 rounds) CCI Tactical AR 375 pack.
30 yards. Indoors. Slow firing. 3x42 NcStar scope. BiPod on front. No sand bags on the back.

Point to point on the star is 1.5".

I have a 10-22 with a fluted Green Mountain barrel and a 30 year old Tasco 6-18 scope.

This was part of a political sign that Charlie has a lot of after loosing a run for state senate.

The 10 shot group was fired at 100 yds.

The additional dents are the result of my puppy thinking that my target was a chew toy.

I have found the accuracy of my 15-22 to be excellent. I had an extended range session with it the other day which I am going to post to my YouTube channel soon in which I zeroed my micro dot at 25 yards on paper and then shot several magazines from 100 and 200 yards at a 12 inch steel plate. I was pleasantly surprised that hitting the 100 yard plate was remarkably easy and hitting the 200 yard plate was probably 8 out of 10 times. This was done with no magnification and lying prone resting on the mag. Needless to say, I was :D:D.

Will post video for viewing pleasure when I done editing.

ETA: I forgot to say, when i zeroed the micro dot, i just shot 5 shots in fairly rapid succession from a front rail sandbag and the results were close to 1 MOA. I have zero doubt that with a magnified scope and good technique this rifle is capable of 1 MOA accuracy and sub-MOA with some attention to detail.

On the targets I posted I was using federal bulk . I was at the range today and was using cci ar tactical and not one jam. Ill post a pic from today later. :)

Update

Here's a group at 50 yds. The rifle is zeroed for 75 yds, so I had to compensate a little. The ammunition was Winchester Xpert HV 36 grain bulk. I don't like this ammo, but it was I had today.

I have not shot my PC model at anything above 35 yards since I use it for speed steel competition. But I do not expect it to be as good as my custom Remington 597 VTR with its 1.5# Jard trigger and its compensated Volquartsen carbon-fiber bull barrel. That gun will shoot a single unraged hole at 25 yards and a slightly raged hole at 50 yards off a rest. If I can get my PC model off the rest to shoot 10 in the black at 100 yards I would be happy. Will try it this summer against the 597 using CCI-SV.
