Long time gun owner here but just joined this forum. More of an colt time Colt collector but diving into old Smith and Wesson revolvers.

Picked this up today from a buddy of mine. Just cleaned here up. I believe she is from 1969, my birth 3. Not a Smith and Wesson expert. Is it from 1969?

3.5" barrel. Belonged to APD officer D. Huebel who brought it from the APD police depon 4-16-1971. Value on card was $100. This package came with his holster belt, 2 speed loaders in a black leather pouch, 318 rounds of ammo and extra leather holster.

Austin is my 3rd hometown (who says that) as I was born and raised in El Paso till 18 and moved to Austin to go to school at UT Austin.

I am a blued fan of revolvers but this one drew me in.

In great shape for being a LEO carry until he retired 1994 and brought gun.

Here are pics if the gun. Also came with 2 sets of grips.

Taking it in a week or two to Reds Gun Range to shoot it along with my 1969 4" Python and 1969 Colt Government 1911.

Manny

Nice one with great history. That would possibly have shipped in 69 at the earliest, of course 71 at the latest. Sorry I can't say any closer. You have certainly started off with a desirable gem. Is the RH magna stock panel (the smaller set) stamped with the guns serial number? Hard to make out the number in the pic. The larger pair are target stocks and were an option usually purchased later. Both sets have the blued stock circles/washers so they are at least the correct era. They switched to stainless washers some time in the 1970's. Please post pics of the stock fronts if possible.

Welcome to the Forum!

Todd

Thanks for the compliments.

I am sure the RH stocks do not match but I will check here shortly and post better pics of both grips/stocks.

Here are pics of the grips. Slim grips have serial # 30118. Target stocks have LH 5913 and RH 5912.

Welcome to the Forum! Lots of .357 Magnum and Model 27 fans here, both nickel and blued. The 3-1/2" bbl. versions are probably the most sought after models, and quite a few Forum members focus on LEO guns, too. You were fortunate to have picked up a very nice example, and I'm sure it will be fun to shoot. I've got a couple of 3-1/2" Model 27-2 revolvers, and they're some of my favorites. The one with the brass plates on the bottom of the stocks supposedly has some LEO provenance, but I don't have any documentation. Enjoy!

Nice score....picked this one up late last year.
It came with the magna stocks and I strapped it with some stags.
Model 10 3" in nickel just below the 27-2.
