Given the state of the nation in 2020, you can only have twelve firearms. What are they and why? If you don't have twelve firearms, just write in what you'd want and why.

  1. AR-15 Rifle - 5.56/.223 fitted with M9 bayonet solves most problems,
  2. AR-10 Rifle - 6.5 Creedmoor solves most long-distance problems,
  3. Marlin Model 795 - .22LR small game hunting,
  4. SIG Sauer P229 in .357 SIG, .40 S&W and 9mm- AIWB concealed carry hammer gun/HD/caliber diversity/CC redundancy,
  5. Beretta PX4 Storm Compact Inox - main AIWB concealed carry hammer gun/HD,
  6. S&W M&P9 M2.0 Subcompact in 9mm, no manual safety - OWB concealed carry/HD/flexes up to 15 & 17+1 for redundant CC and/or sidearm (e.g. truck gun),
  7. S&W PC M&P9 M2.0 Shield w/manual safety in 9mm - Thin AIWB, IWB, OWB concealed carry/HD/CC backup/CC redundancy,
  8. S&W M&P45 M2.0 Shield w/manual safety - Thin concealed carry/caliber diversity/CC backup/CC redundancy/Shield familiarity,
  9. Ruger LCP II (380 ACP) - pocket carry (for deep constitutional concealment)/CC backup/CC redundancy,
  10. Remington V3 12 gauge shotgun - Hunting/Recreation/HD,
  11. S&W 686 Plus (.357 Mag/.38 Special) - Hunting/HD/CC pistol caliber diversity/CC redundancy/looks cool, and
  12. Henry Big Boy in .357 Mag/.38 Special - Deer hunting/HD redundancy/caliber compatibility with 686 revolver/looks cool.

Note - I also have three bows to take advantage of a long hunting season

Interesting. Had to give it some thought, but here's what I would (probably) pick, in no particular order:

1. Beretta PX4 Compact - My current EDC. It's fairly easy to carry concealed, I can shoot it well, so far it's been completely reliable (*knocks on wood*), and a good capacity for home defense.

2. S&W 642-1 - Currently used as a BUG and occasional primary/only carry gun. Reliable, I can shoot it well, and can be carried more discreetly than my PX4. Can be carried IWB, in a pocket, or on my ankle.

3. Pocket .380 - Leaning towards the Beretta Pico because I like that it's a hammer-fired DAO gun. For those times when I really need to carry discreetly and the 642-1 is too big. Can also fill a BUG role.

4. 9mm Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) - Leaning towards the Beretta CX4 Storm, mostly because it can use PX4 mags. For me, the PCC would make for a good long gun for static defense of my "safe room" at home. Would also consider an AR PCC.

5. 5.56mm AR carbine - For power and range, if needed. Ubiquitous. Don't have a particular brand in mind. Definitely want something with a reputation for reliability. I did have a dream once where I walked into a gun store and bought a Noveske. *shrug*

6. 12ga defensive shotgun - Not really settled on a type, brand, or model. I think I'd prefer a semi-auto as I like the idea of having a defensive gun capable of being fired one-handed if necessary. Kinda leaning towards a Mossberg 930 Tactical because I like the tang-mounted safety (I'll probably be using long guns as a lefty since I'm cross-dominant).

"But wait, that's only 6 guns," you say. That's because I'll also have identical duplicates for each gun. It spreads out the wear-and-tear, I can use one as a training gun that gets the bulk of the range practice while the other gets carried/kept on stand-by and fired occasionally to ensure function, and I have a back-up in case the first goes down due to mechanical issues.

Ask me again in 10 minutes and I might give a different answer. ;)

Wish list mostly:

1) Cobb Armory MCR-300 30-06
2) Glock 20SF 10mm
3) TNW Aero Survival Rifle in 10mm Glock magazine
4) Browning A5 12 gauge
5) Beretta 92AF INOX
6) Smith & Wesson M57 Classic 41MAG 6"
7) Henry Big Boy Carbine Lever 41 Magnum 16.5"
8) Ruger MK-IV .22 LR
9) Ruger Precision Rimfire .22 LR 18" Rifle
10) Colt AR-15 Carbine
11) Colt 1911 Government 45ACP
12) MAC-10 in 45ACP

I have a couple off this list but most are a wish list that will never get filled. I had a Cobb Armory full lower, barrel, and all the other parts except for the upper receiver for the MCR-300 for about 10 years. I sold it because I couldn't find an upper to complete it.

Alas, I read that South Africans lacking a special collectors licence actually do have a 12 gun limit. One would surely want a 9mm, a 5.56 0r 7.62mm rifle, and a .375 H&H. And a stainless snub .38. And a .270, 7mm, or .30-06 for lighter plains game, duiker, bushbuck and the like.

I have a lot more than 12 and still don't want or need a 9mm.

12?

Glock 19
AR-15 in 5.56

I'll list those two, because that's what you're going to have to test my skills with if you think your going to take away enough of my guns to only leave me with only 12.

I'm at 12 after selling off
a bunch.

PLan to sell at least 2 more.
Or maybe 3.

Much happier with less.

But also have a great deal
of redundancy.

Picking 12 is difficult. My list seem to be my favorites, at least I shoot them the most of all I own.
