.357 magnum VS .38 spl question

Moxie;
I have old Lyman data with cast bullets from 75gr #358101 to
195gr # 358430 . Some start out at 519fps to 560fps...........
This data is so old..................
It uses the Speer 146gr and 160gr Half-Jacket for the data.

and yes the 38 special started in 1898 as a black powder load
with 18grs and increased to 21grs to improve velocity and energy.

Do you suppose that once the .38 Special had gone mainstream anyone started calling the .38S&W the .38 short and weak?

The 32 and 38 S&W were great loads back in their days and can still take small game and do a good job on paper and fun times just plinking.

I have two break opens that have past their prime and are just conversation pieces now but they were king in their day.

Just a little hard to find ammo and some times the price tag makes you cringe.
