Imagine how things could've been different if New Yorkers were allowed to defend themselves. So sad.
Yes you are correct, however........ as a former NY-er (I won't even go back to visit) I would say you need to understand their mind set. We can't get into politics here so there is not much else I can say. Honest civilians who defend themselves, family or innocent bystanders then become the "criminal" and the real criminals are let go. A prelude to communism IMO.

Yes, I'm afraid you are right. When everyone is convinced that the govt. should take care of them and take no responsibility for their own safety, except to run and hide, it is truly a sad situation. I've been there a few times, but like you, I will not go back.

In this particular instance I don’t think the results would have been significantly different, regardless of where in the country it had happened.
Well, you may be right, but if only one more person had been armed and could've taken him out and saved just one life, it would have been very significant for that person. A few years back, we had a gunman that went into a dentists office and shot his ex-wife who worked there. He did kill her, but one of the patients was armed, and jumped out of the chair at the sound of gunfire and took out the shooter. The police said he had plans to kill everyone there. I would say, that's significantly different.

A friend once lived in NYC not all that far from Jackie Kennedy. They moved in and bought two garbage cans for the house. The next day they were gone. They had a car parked out front. It was always unlocked with all windows down and glove box open to discourage vandals or thieves. This was 40 years ago....NYC is a dumpster fire always has been..
