This thread is about the shooting and killing of 4 Oakland, CA Police Officers and the fact that I wish to post my sadness, sorrow, concerns and prayers for these Police Officers and their families.

In answer to your question, Yes, I saw the other post of this issue, but I refuse to post in a thread that has turned into a flaming war over other nonsense.

This is one of bloodest days in California Law Enforcement and 4 good police officers lost their lives while doing no more than to protect and serve their community, even with all the faults that Oakland has, they were doing their jobs. I knew one of the slain police officers. He was a nice and great guy. He was a also a very good police officer, not like some of the cops that you have blasted in the past. Oakland is less than an hour from my town and agency and a number of the OPD Officers live in my town and I like all of them, they are good, family people.

This incident started with two motorcycle officers stopping a subject for vehicle code violations. The suspect was wanted on a No Bail Warrant, he was on parole and under investigation for a murder. Apparently, he decided that he was not going back to jail and shot and kiiled both officers. The 2 OPD SWAT Officers were killed by going in after the suspect in an apartment complex where they were ambushed and killed before the 3rd SWAT Officer, although shot, was able to shoot and kill the suspect.

I pray for these officers and their families. I understand that this incident may be used by the gun grabbers but it really goes back to the fact that "We need to enforce the laws we have on the books now." He was an ex-con, on parole, wanted and it was illegal for him to buy or possess any firearms so no AW Ban would have stopped this; a better court system probably would have stopped this suspect from being out and deadly.

Now I would ask all of the Forum members to stop, think of the fact that these officers gave up their lives for their community.

I pray for these officers, their familes and that may God Bless and be with these people in their time of sorrow need. May these Police Officers Rest In Peace. May God Bless Them All.......

That about sums it up right there.
God give some comfort to the families.

Here on the forum we have folks who support LEOs and folks that bash LEOs. We also have folks that support firearms ownership and... somewhere, somehow, there are people who are going to use this crime to attack firearms ownership.

This was the right crime committed in the right political climate to be a problem for the gun owning community.

No disrespect to the fallen officers. I'm a career LEO myself and understand the occupational hazards. Officers are shot and die in the line of duty every year. This, I think, could be different.
