What’s the good, the bad and ugly on these?
The only "negatives" I can think of on the 457 are the plastic sights and blackened finish are not very durable, and the carbon steel slide can be rust prone during the "sweaty" times of the year.
Other than those, it's a great 45 compact at a great price.

IIRC, the rear sight dovetail is the same for the metal or plastic sight but the front dovetail is limited to the OEM and Trijicon.

My two tone 457 is a shooter, reliable, and accurate. The 457 had an oddball front sight dovetail cut, which made it more difficult to find a replacement. If all a person can afford is the budget series, by all means buy one and don't look back. That said, If I had to do it over, would go with the 4513. The LGS has a number of these and would snag one in a heart beat if not for retiring my 3rd gens a while ago.
Wait, WHAT?!?!
An LGS with a "number" of 4513s??? And you haven't shared said LGS???
Come on! Please?
Picked it up last Friday. As a bonus it came with two mags. Took it to the range last night. Amazingly accurate. Stunningly so for a compact value line piece.
