From ABC News

"The National Rifle Association is calling for a federal review of bump stocks, a weapon modifier that allows semi-automatic weapons to fire faster.

The NRA, in its first statement since the Oct. 1 shooting in Las Vegas, said that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives should 'immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law.'

'The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations,' the statement reads.

The full statement, issued jointly by NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre and the head of its legislative arm Chris Cox, opens by addressing 'the evil and senseless attack in Las Vegas.' "

Valium is not mind-altering.......damn near like aspirin; offers a "calming" effect. Back in the 50s, expectant mothers who were going nuts were advised to wash a Valium down with a martini as they calmed their nerves with a smoke........

Diazepam was initially brought to market by Hoffman
La Roche in 1963.

It's a benzodiazepine, similiar in effects to Xanax.

The Bump Stock or Slide Fire has a supposed rate of fire of 400 to 800 rounds per minute

Now that is a very large spread.

On the low end, Do the math if using 40 round mags that would require dumping and slamming 10 mags into the rifle in one minute!

The high end of 800?? Forget it.

Even with 100 round drum mags that would be 4, 100 round mags in a minute?? Find that difficult to actually do,

The limited pictures of the room show stick mags, I do not know the capacity.

As with all things, take the item away from those who had nothing to do with it! and I could care less about Bump Stocks,

Is there any information on exactly how many rounds where fired??

I bet there are instructions now up somewhere on the internet about how to make your own bump stock. Or maybe they always have been.

From my experience with a slide fire stock and surfire mags, is I could not get 10 rounds in before jams and malfunctions. And I know of nobody that has, we have tried, hell the mags alone are garbage. It will be interesting to see what guns where actually used, my guess there was a full auto in the mix. I have watched countless amount of videos from people at or near the scene, and I didn't hear or see one bullet ricochet, which I find strange since he was supposably firing from 350 feet in the air. And also no flash coming from his room, it's been stated he had no flash suppressor, and no burn marks in the carpet from hot spent casings. That is what has my head scratching about this event. And why did he stop firing, when we are told he had thousands of rounds left in his room..........I hope we get some answers but I'm not holding my breath. And yes my brother was at the event and is safe at home now, he was on his way out thankfully when SHTF......

The sheriff has issued a timeline stating they had ID'd the room and were in the hallway clearing out adjacent rooms within 12 minutes of the first shots.

It seems that the initial reports of Paddock shooting himself at the time of the breach (at 72 minutes) were incorrect.

I'm surprised by how easily the anti-gunners are distracted by the bump stock. Without it, we'd be hearing about an assault weapons ban again.

I'm not for the NRA caving on bump stocks, but it seems a small bone to toss the anti-gunners in exchange for not having a new AWB debate.

Don't be fooled into thinking of it as a distraction - it's just a very easy first step. I'm glad the NRA didn't try to defend the device. The only defense, in my mind, is the "chipping away at the second amendment" argument and while normally valid, after this event, I don't see how they could make it fly, and would only make them look callous.

What is particularly worrisome about this event, is if this guy was pro gun control, he could not have made a better case for his position, and I'm not alleging any kind of a conspiracy.

I've read a number of posts on various boards about how easy it is to simulate auto-fire without any type of bump stock device, using grip, string, etc. Let's hope that doesn't become common public knowledge, or more people who have been somewhat ambivalent up until now, will start to believe that there is a need to "control" the guns themselves.

Paddock had the means to acquire actual full auto weapons. He chose - apparently - bump stocked semi-autos. Had bump stocks not been available (as Washington thinks they can make happen), his recourse was to acquire actual machine guns, forcing him to KILL MORE PEOPLE.

Legislative action on bump stocks is trying to prevent the PREVIOUS attack. Much as the TSA wastes our time on. Bad people wanting to commit mass murder look for weak spots/opportunities and exploit them. Banning bump stocks has nothing to do with anything, except making Nancy 'WE MUST DO SOMETHING' Pelosi feel good about herself.

NRA "CAVING IN" ON BUMPSTOCKS?

Pretty sure ANY statement made by the NRA was run by/prepared by their "experts". Opinions by us on what the NRA should have done/said will likely be all over the place, seeing as we can't all agree on blue/stainless/plastic.

A Change of Pace...

With all the talk of killing, shooting, speculation about this gun or that gun and everything else...it's nice to see some people and animals are doing something to help alleviate the stress and pain, even if just for a little while.

A team of Golden Retreivers has been walking the halls and visiting the rooms at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.

I can see why they did it, but it is almost certainly a mistake.

If they're trying to be "reasonable", that's as foolish as trying to "reason" with a salt water crocodile. The crocodile only has one mode of operation: it eats whatever living thing it can get its jaws around.

The anti-gun cult is similarly one dimensional in its goals: to remove as many guns from as many non-governmental (and non affiliated) hands as possible, by any means necessary.

There is no more chance of making a "deal" with Chuck Schumer and the anti-gun cult than there is of making one with Abu Bakr al Baghdadi and ISIS. Both groups are lying sociopaths with maximalist goals.

Not only are we hearing about another "assault weapon" ban, we're hearing calls to REPEAL THE SECOND AMENDMENT.

There's no longer any need to, to borrow a line from James Brown, "pull the sheet off of 'em". They've pulled their own sheet off and are waving it over their heads screaming, "REPEAL THE SECOND AMENDMENT!!!"

What Hitler wanted was pretty easy to divine by reading "Mein Kampf". This is like Hitler SAYING what he wants every night, on every TV channel, on every radio station, in every newspaper, and on the internet, multiple times a day. At what point do you take him at his word?

I'm confident in saying we can say "goodbye" to bump-stocks. Millions of Americans who have never heard of them certainly have now, and in my view (not that I agree), their availability will be hard to defend.

Sorry to stray a bit but, on some youtube-like channel-some kid showed how you can still do the same thing using a belt loop. Just heard about this yesterday.

On topic--Prayers for the innocent dead and wounded.:o:o

With deepest sympathy from our family to all that have been lost and injured. God Speed to those in recovery. Our family has no futher comments. Thank You God Bless America. That is how in my view the brothers comments should have been on vegas for the press. He should give full disclouser to any and all law enforcment .Any one else aboard think brother is a bit off too. Respectful that he has lost a brother too.But his body lanauage and some comments are in question with me. Again thank God we aboard are not in his shoes and family pain.Thoughts ??

From what little ive seen of his brother in the news-is that without ""actually"" condoning his insane dead bros LV actions-he's still blaming it on others-like w/o ""actually"" saying it--the Country Music crowds. The two of them look like nut jobs to me from what little ive sadly, have to had to learn about two insignificant nobodies.

Banning the sale of trigger aids?
Paperboys and girls with ponytails will soon be marching at the Capital. FREEDOM FOR RUBBER BANDS!!!

Rubber bands are used for bump fire.

Belt loops too from what I just learned about yesterday on the Joe Pags radio show.
