WAR DECLARED in Israel

Latest estimates from General Jack Keane. 300 miles of tunnels beneath Gaza. Lots of traps already in place above and below ground. 5000 Hamas fighters. All the weaponry and ammunition they need, courtesy of Iran. Probably at least as well armed, organized and capable as any smaller country's army. Will take the IDF at least a few months. No more IDF quick in and out operations are possible. High probability of Hezbollah entry from the north if Iran orders them to. And then it really gets sticky for the US.

Just sit back and let the siege work its wonders. No hurry. Round up and kill any hamas cowards found outside the strip fence. What supply reserves they had before their sneak attack, they'll be running out very soon. In a week or so, the IDF can do target practice on anything trying to get out of Gaza - like E. Germany. Mass starvation is a good starting point for their elimination. Then, on to IRAN.

I suggest Island Hopping like the Navy did in the Big One. Just starve them out. Land mines on the edge could be handy.

From what I have read, most of Gaza's utilities have already been cut off and are no longer operating, at least full time. Also no fuel. Must be a very disgusting place. I would also think that an extremely tight blockade to prevent entry of absolutely every type of supplies into Gaza would starve everyone out in fairly short order. The Hamas soldiers don't wear uniforms or other indications of Hamas membership, so I don't know how they can be distinguished from ordinary Palestinians when the time comes to start shooting. Or maybe the idea is to "kill 'em all and let Allah sort 'em out." I suppose that would also include any hostages.

Here's a good NYT opinion piece on what a ground invasion of Gaza by the IDF would entail, what the rules of war are, and how it would be possible for Israel to destroy Hamas while following the rules of war.

...the law of war does not prevent Israel from destroying a terrorist army embedded in a civilian population. It can be done. It has been done. And as Israel embarks on perhaps its most difficult military operation since its war for independence, public clarity about the law of war will be indispensable for depriving Hamas of one of its chief propaganda weapons, and continued enforcement of the law of war can prevent atrocities that could fuel this conflict for generations to come...."

I was not wrong...I will not guess again. Your going back 5 days for that post, this is recent news. If anything, thank me for shaming them into freezing the funds.

Here is what you originally wrote:

And were funding it. Someone just gave the iranian animals 6 billion dollars to spend on this.

You wrote that post in the present tense, and your words were clear. At the time you wrote that post you were wrong. No one had given any money to the Iranians when you wrote that post, and no one has given them any money in the days since. At no time has Iran used any of that money to fund Hamas or attack Israel, and I guarantee you the US Government didn't freeze that money because of something you posted on the Forum.

To be fair, you were just one of many people in this country who spread the rumor that "someone" had given Iran that money...but you did say it. I do wonder, though, where you got your incorrect information? Sounds like it might have been one of those "fake news" sources...

I was surprised the Qataris went along with the freeze.

Really? I would have been shocked if they hadn't.

CNN this evening showed graphic video or a photo of a dead Israeli baby who'd been shot during Saturday's attack. (I didn't see it, thank heaven...I was listening on Sirius XM in my car...but I heard the description.) That sort of image is very powerful, the kind of thing that really upsets people. There's no excuse for such an atrocity, no matter how strongly someone might empathize with the impoverished and suffering Palestinians.

The Qataris aren't stupid. Their relationship with the West is far more important than siding with monsters who would murder children. I suspect that as more details of what happened in Israel become known in coming days, Hamas and its backers are going to find themselves running out of friends...

I think we're in the beginning stages of WW3. If Iran gets whacked, it has two big friends, Russia and China.

With economies all over the world in bad shape with not much government can do, and regular folks not happy about anything and elections coming up, "when all else fails, go to war".

Given our .gov's long history of warmongering,... well... But the folks involved aren't third world countries, and these long low intensity wars, we can afford to lose and have. It's different with near peer big boys.

did anyone else notice Israel loosened up on their weapons permits, and allow owners to keep 100 rounds on hand, instead of just 50?

At least in a door to door situation, someone has a chance to live while everyone else flees out the back.

People here in the US can't comprehend this. But it happened in the Ukraine, and now in Israel.

Would small arms turn the tide? Probably not, but on an individual basis, more might likely survive. Or at least for longer.

With mandatory military service and the training they have received, You might be surprised how effective they could be. A little organization and you could do some pretty effective guerilla warfare. Like you said on a bigger scale. Think keeping them out of an entire neighborhood while the non-fighters escape. I understand they have trust issues with some of their citizens, and rightfully so, but I would think they would be arming whoever needed arms.

I can't believe that I forgot about their compulsory service. Real smack my forehead moment. This is exactly the sort of thing they have been worried about. They called up how many hundreds of thousands of reservists?

We as a country have no idea what its like when collectively, we all have to look over our shoulder 24/7.

Looks like not one Arab country will take any Palastinian refugees. Egypt won't open the gate to let them into the Sinai.

Israel just ordered that Palestinians in north Gaza must relocate to south Gaza within 24 hours. I would assume that means that by this time tomorrow, the vengeance operation will begin. That will involve relocation of about half of the Gaza population of 2+ Million. Gotta be mass panic in Gaza right now. Second item - It has been announced that the $6B has officially been re-frozen, and will not be transferred to Iran by Qatar. Let the Jihad day begin.
