Me too. It's a great shooter with a smooth action. I wish I had another with a 2 1/2", round butt.

I have a 586 no dash with 8 3/8 inch barrel and adjustible front sight and I think it's a great gun. I also have a 686 no dash with 6 inch barrel. I love them both and they are excellent shooters.

I have two .357 Distinguished Combat Magnums,
They both have 4" Barrels and are 586 no dash models.
Nickel is AAE SN code , Blue is AJJ,.... Early to mid 80's I believe.

Only one has had the hammer nose mod done by the factory indicated by the "M" stamp in the yoke.
Love them both.

My 586 is by far the most balanced gun I own. If just want to shoot rounds, I shoot a 9mm because of the cost. While my 629 is a "blast" to shoot, the 586 is the most fun because its so well balnced in my opinion.

I love my 586L-Frames.
I purchased new back in 1981 & 1982.
4" and 6".

I bought a 686 brand new about 15 years ago, but I just recently traded for a 586 no dash with 4" barrel. The action on it is as smooth as silk. It shoots like a dream.

I bought a new 586 with a 6” barrel back in the late nineties; beautiful gun and the trigger was smooth as silk straight out of the box. I sold it a few years ago and have regretted it ever since.

I adopted a 586 last week, 6" with a Patridge front sight. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet but I did change the grips.
I have other handguns I haven't been able to fire yet as well so a range trip is in the near future.

I've got two; a no dash and a dash-1. The top one here is a new 686P. The 586's are as smooth as glass. The 686 is also excellent.

I came into a 586-4 a few months ago. I'd been without a Smith for about 6 years and decided that if one of these ever came my way, I'd fight for it.

I find that I am carrying it more and more. With the right holster, it's very, very comfortable.

I owned a Nickel 586 6" BBL, Pachmayr grips that was a FL State Trooper's Gun...sold it when it was the last thing I had left of any value a long time ago,

I replaced it last year with a 6" Blue model A0 SN prefix, no dash...it outshoots my Python!
