Ammo flippers are soon to be SOL

Now if only there were a way to make Cheaper Than Dirt take a fall. Other than just refusing to buy anything from them anymore, which I gather a number of us have decided to do.

I never bought from them and based on what y'all think fo them and Dicks--ill not be buying in the future either. :)

Here in central FL it's getting better. WM shelves have been empty for a year and some items are starting to stay on the shelves. In the past month seen some 40 and 9 along with most rifle (not 223) and some 12g buck stay a while. LOL they have 20rds of Federal PD 9mm at $21 (as walking away laughing guy was yelling "but their hollow points"). That's still sitting there. LGS Shoot Straight has had most cals for some time but mostly typical PMC range 9/40/45 ammo which is still high. Went to Outdoor world last week and picked clean of pretty much everything. Gander Mountain seems to have quite a bit but in my book they fall into the category of CTD and I don't buy anything from them. The most I have paid was $30 a box for 50rds Ranger RA9SXT at LGS. Gun show a few weeks ago was a joke and the reselling hacks were still out in full force especially with 22 and 223.

Ammo availability must be on a store to store basis, or a regional issue. I have read two threads today saying the ammo crunch was over, blah, blah, blah! Not true in Central Texas. Just got off the phone with WalMart Corporate, asking why my local WM #1254, had not had any rifle, pistol, or rimfire ammo for months. According to the lady who called me back, it is a manufacturer issue. I told her I had it on firm information that WM Stores in Tennessee, and Georgia, were fully stocked. She claimed no knowledge of this. I do not believe WalMart is on top of its game, as they don't even have a policy in place to limit purchases, so everyone can share the meager amount of ammo trickling into my local store. Personally, I have not seen a single box of .22lr on the shelves in six months, The local Academy Store is receiving three shipments per week, but has a limit of one box per caliber, but they ARE getting shipments, routinely. What gives??!! Big Box-No Stocks!

Ive found that WM is NOT on top of the game. Also when inquiring on things-its my opinion (and experience) that they will tell you whatever pops into their heads at the time.

Academy in my area gets in Ammo shipments in 6 days of the week Sunday excluded--and always have hundreds and hundreds of boxes of popular stuff in--and sometimes-when I just happen to swagger into their store late in the day--most of that is still there.

I disagree. SCOTUS hasn't ruled directly on this, but they have touched on the use of firearms for self defense. Logically, if you can use a firearm for self defense, ammunition, which is an integral part of a firearm, is protected. Several of the law suits in CO, NY, and CT that are targeting magazine restrictions are using the "commonly used" terminology in Heller to attack the Constitutionality of magazine restrictions. Using that same line of attack is not a stretch.

Remember, the Heller decision hinged on being able to keep firearms that were functional in your home. Functional includes ammunition since without it, the firearm is not functional.

Excessive taxes or permitting requirements on firearms and ammunition should be treated the same way a "poll tax" would be on voting. Or having to buy "libel" insurance before writing a letter to the editor or putting up a blog post.

That's not a matter of politics, it's a matter of law.

You know when this was initially going down a few Dems actually said "This is a waste of taxpayer money as it amounts to a poll tax and will ultimately be overturned after wasting money battling it out in court" sadly they are few and far between and largely outnumber by the serious nut job antis.

They'll do anything to make things harder while we have to fight and wait for it to be overturned

No ammo in Wisconsin.

If you have ammo and want to flip it, Wisconsin is bone dry on the ammo front. :(

I saw a dialog.....

I think with the pending legislation in California we're still in for a bumpy ride. The antis have figured out that the 2A doesn't cover ammo. Reloaders are on their radar now, too.

I saw a dialog between gun grabbers a little ways back talking how ammo control was the key to gun control. They gleefully pointed out that primers were a weak spot because they could not be easily home made.

Went to WM today to get dog food and wasp spray. Swung by the ammo case and saw two boxes of Federal 9mm 115 HP. 20rd box for $22.95.

I passed them up. Man, it's ridiculous about this situation.

Some 22 has showed up locally, but I haven't seen any CCI Green Tab for a couple of years and I'm down to about 150 rounds. Hate to think what the price tag will be when it finally makes an appearance.

My brother called this morning said he was at a gun show in Ill and the flippers were asking $90.00 for a box of 325 Federal Auto Match in .22LR.........he also said no one was buying!

6 bucks for a box of 223 is fair price to answer the question in my opinion.
Never said ONLY reson ctd raised prices was to keep inventory. I was making the comparison of to seller reactions when demand out strips supply. Both are going to sell what they can get. One sells out quickly. One not so much. How many people really paid ctd prices? Were they fools? Did they need as opposed to want the ammo. Walmart didn't have any at any price, need or or not. Ctd and Walmart are not nice. Both have evil ways. I don't think I can be clearer on that. I buy from both so I guess I'm a little evil also. The thing is I spread it around to give every vendor some, because I want choice. I don't like monopolys except mabell she was ok in my book :D If ctd cancelled orders, and I believe you, you have every right not to spend anything with them. I would do the same.

My WM still has zilch. I did however just order some premium 223 from Midway. I think it was $18.00 box of twenty. Got 5 boxes. Also, got my twice yearly stock up on 7.65X53 for my two old reliable 1891 Argentine Mausers. I never get tired of them. Oh, and CTD can bite me.

I seriously doubt they will be SOL. The price they are asking is not the price they paid. Its not like the $90 he's asking is what he got it for. Most are gun owners as well and will just keep the ammo for themselves or wait a few years for another panic.....and there will be one, sooner or later.

I was of course concerned about my rights during the great panic of 2012/13 but wasnt worried about it like some on here were. Stalking WMs, buying immediately and a lot, complaining about horders...etc...etc. i bough when i stumbled onto a good price thats all. I dont need to be nor do i have the time to be at the range everyday.
