Anatomy of a lightning strike

In addition to the other shots I posted, I got some video of the lightning. In the next few posts are 23 frames showing a massive cloud to cloud event that covered nearly half the sky. This was not the biggest one of the night by far, either. the frame rate was 30/second.

OK, in these first frames you can see things starting up behind the clouds and clearly sweeping across the sky behind the clouds and (I assume) rain.
