Actually, Europeans had been coming to America for over 100 years before Squanto met the pilgrims and blew their minds by speaking english.
Even if the Wampanoag Indians slaughtered the pilgrims as they came ashore it would've just delayed the inevitable. Europe sent wave after wave of ships to colonize this land.

That being said, Nihtsi kiyistoi popcorn.

boatme99's sig line actually had me looking at historical Squanto stuff.
Previously, I thought the name was just a silly, made up moniker.

Boy, was I wrong:

Tisquantum (January 1, 1585 – November 30, 1622), also known as Squanto, was the Native American who assisted the Pilgrims after their first winter in the New World and was integral to their survival. He was a member of the Patuxet tribe, a tributary of the Wampanoag Confederacy. During his lifetime, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean six times.

Having grown up midway between the two landing points of the Mayflower, my early history learnin' was heavy on the New England Colonial period. :D
