Annoyed at thread drift

Hey Drifters,
Not up for a full blown music thread, but have you heard any REALLY GOOD contemporary rock/pop/blues? Say, last five years or so. I haven't heard much so that's why I'm asking. Last best thing I've heard was Black Dub. Here's a couple of clips.

We've finally drifted back home after almost two weeks on the road. Fun trip, but it's nice to be back home again.

I was looking for just a little sympathy; I should have looked in the Funk & Wagnall's or in Webster's unabridged. I don't think that the people in this thread would have been so unsympathetic. I think there is definitely a better sense of humor in this thread than elsewhere on this Forum. A good percentage that post here are prime jokesters!

Up and at em! Keep waking early and I sure don't want to make a habit of it because then I have to wait until my coffee is ready and I do not function well until I have my coffee. Saw on the news this morning that some local people are organizing to guard the Recruiting offices in the area. Sad that it has come to this, news said the recruiters asked that they not guard them.

Hey Tim, I missed your thread in the lounge but after seeing this post I had to go back and read. Wow, you are so right! Lots of really snarky comments. I really cringed when one of the posters told you to get a bigger truck. That's just not right!

I'm pretty new to the drifter zone, but I'm getting to like it very much.

I read the thread but didn't think you were ranting at all. I think your reactions were pretty reasonable, given the circumstances.

I like the light touch on the instruments. You can find 'Walls of Sound' anywhere but it's great for the band to have such confidence in a sparse setting.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed them and excellent comment. The leader/guitarist is Daniel Lanois, the extraordinary producer of many great albums (Neil Young, Dylan, U2 etc.) The singer is Trixie Whitley, daughter of the late bluesman Chris Whitley.

I'm in a bit of a funk.
There's a local resort I go to for physical therapy. There are some residents that live in a little community there.
On Monday I went in for water aerobics and the instructor never showed up. One of the other residents came in and told us what happened.
A family that lived there had gone to Florida for the week and hired somebody to house sit. That person was also supposed to take care of their dogs.
Apparently, she didn't do a very good job.
One of the dogs was weak from heat stroke. As it lay there dying, small animals started eating into it's innards.
The aerobics instructor and some others rushed it to the vet. but it was too late and it had to be put down.
What an absolutely horrific way to go.
