I've just read some news that has rocked me to my very core! You think you can rely, depend, count on someone and they prove you wrong. And after many years. I didn't really know where to post this, but since I was already in this thread, observing the bacon goodness, I opted to post it here. You've got to understand, I've believed in this person for years, & to find out that they've been living a lie for many years just shakes my faith in humanity. I just found out that Cap'n Crunch IS NOT A CAPTAIN!!! He's only got three stripes on his epaulets, which would make him a commander. A Cap'n would have four stripes. I ask all the Navy guys here for verification.:D

Surely the mods must have some system for deciding which poor soul has to monitor this thread. Although I can't think which one might have screwed up badly enough to pull the duty.

"Alright! You, Johnson! Get over to the Annoyed thread & keep an eye on those remedial's. I don't care! No one wants to do it, but today's your turn in the bucket! Move it, move it, move it!"

Maybe something like that?:D

You do not have to have the rank of Captain to be the Captain of a ship. At least that's what the Skipper told me.

Isn't the commander of a ship referred to as Captain regardless of his rank? Not a Navy guy, but I've watched a lot of navy movies. Not to mention McHale's Navy. Ironically, Ernest Borgnine was in the Navy in WW II. On a destroyer, not a PT boat. And he wasn't the Captain.

How's that for thread drift?

That's one of the things I love about this Forum;there's always someone ready to call BS on you...even if you're just trying to post something HUMOROUS!

I was once teaching a class and one of the students (an adult) made a wise acre comment. I looked at him and he said, "That was a joke."

I replied, "It can't be a joke, I've heard jokes before, they're funny." ;)

He however got the last laugh about an hour later when I said something that I thought was funny. Guess what he said to me?

I'm not one of your students; Please don't presume to try and instruct me. I just don't see the need to point out errors(if indeed they are errors). I just tried to relate something funny that I read, is that so hard to understand? ITS A JOKE!:D

I know I need to lighten up, but I'm not the only one.

Actually, it is possible for a three striper to be a "Captain." In command of a vessel that is the title.
