Would that be a March Brown? Lets see the pattern when tied.

I thought they were May Flies. Known as Midges around here. Some call them Sons of Midges. They live one day, reproduce and die. When they hatch don't be anywhere near light and Great Caesar's Ghost don't be on a boat with a light. Touch them and they pretty much liquefy. They are a mess.

Mayflies, yes. Midges, no. Different animals, so to speak.
Here's your midge. Trout love it when they "Drift" in the current.

This is great. Nobody around here knows this. Although there are sure to be non-believers, this year I will now be prepared to awe most of my guests with my knowledge of bugdom during the hatch. Thanks. No, seriously, thanks! ;) :D

I continue to be amazed at the things I learn in thread drift.

Entomologically speaking, I'm not a fan. If it stings, I'm allergic to it. If it walks, crawls, hops, flies, spins, swims...it creeps me out. I keep the swatter & various sprays handy at all times.

I guess it would be safe to say you are bugged by them?

"A thread adrift" like that of a fly fisherman (or woman, sic).
2,184 posts to ...get the drift.. arrive at fly fishing.
It is official, armistice day on a gun forum.

I'm pleased and happy to repeat the news that we have, in fact, caught and killed a large predator that supposedly injured some bathers. But, as you see, it's a beautiful day, the beaches are open and people are having a wonderful time. Amity, as you know, means "friendship"
