I just spent half an hour watching Amira on youtube.
Just mind boggling. Thanks, PR! That Mr. Bean vid (LOL!) led me to something amazing.

How y'all are? Good? Good!
If I can manage it this weekend, I'll be baking. Cookies.
Oatmeal Raisin.
English Rocks.
I've never made snickerdoodles. May give that a shot.
Oh. And sugar cookies too.
I have to find my flamingo cookie cutter.
'Cause you know flamingos mean Christmas.

Night-night, Drifters.

High of 74 here in beautiful St. Augustine, partly cloudy. FL women have declared it winter fashion season and are wearing sweaters and boots.

Who was born in Cleveland, Ohio...and likes this time of year, reminds him of summer in Cleveland.
My folks love St. Augustine. They rent a place down there every year for vacation.

Hope you are recuperating well sir.

Pavarotti scoffed...

A real treat - I had the pleasure of seeing Pavarotti perform several times.

Pavarotti scoffed at the idea that he was the 'world's greatest tenor' but seeing this I scoff at his scoffing. I can't believe you got to see him SEVERAL times. I had only one opportunity and it probably would have been impossible to get tickets because it was a benefit concert for Dr. Sabin at the Medical University of Charleston.

This will take some patience as Wagner is not known for fast moving plots. This is from the Ring Cycle (Long before Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings) where the gold in the river Rhine is guarded by the (scantily clad) Rhine Maidens. The gold is stolen and made into a ring which has great power but also carries a curse. This is a take on Norse Mythology, so the characters are familiar. Wotan (Odin) ends up with the ring and has commissioned giants to build Valhalla. They want a pile of gold as payment and hold Freia (who supplies the golden apples that keep the Gods young) as ransom payment. They demand a pile of gold that will cover Freia and also the ring which Wotan refuses to hand over. Erda, a spirit, appears and advises Wotan that he should get rid of the ring because it will bring doom. Wotan relents and gives up the ring, however the giants are greedy and fight over the gold and don't want to give up Freia (understandable). One giant kills the other. Wotan now understands that the ring will only bring trouble. Donner (Thor or 'Thunder') summons up a storm that gives rise to a rainbow bridge, which the gods cross to Valhalla. Loge (Loki) Wotan's shrewd advisor decides to stick around and see what he can stir up on earth. Note that the Norse gods could be mortal and live in fear. The final opera in the cycle is "The Twilight of the Gods" where things pretty much come to an end and Valhalla burns.

One word....Magnificent. I never thought I liked Wagner that much until I was bowled over by this.
I watched the entire Ring cycle on PBS a couple years ago. It was a production at the Met. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to watch it again to see the parts I slept through. It was on from like 11 p.m. to 2:00ish a.m. each night. Can't blame me for nodding off occasionally.
