Playing with snakes....

Isn't it funny how those East European women all look like babushkas.:D:D:D:D:D:D

Russian babushka slays wolf with axe, bare hands

In the early 90's Judit Polgar was in Boston for I think 3 days.
One of which she put on an exhibition in Copley Square, put the money up and you could take a seat.

For a $20.00 bill you got to play the greatest woman chess player in the world.
I didn't.:(

But to this day I wish I had, I could have told everyone that "I played Judit Polgar".;)

PS She didn't look like any babushka to me.:)

The Chevron Houston Marathon is this Sunday morning. I thought it would be a nice change of my routine to alter my morning walk in order to find and take a spot on the marathon route to cheer the runners on. I have a course map and miles 14, 15, 16, and 17 are all within my standard walking range. I'm very familiar with miles 16 and 17, having walked the exact course several times recently.

I'm thinking I'll walk there, find a place to sit and cheer the folks on for awhile, then walk back home. Or, if things drag on I can catch a bus that will bring me back pretty close to home.

Here's the sad part. From my home to most anywhere on miles 14, 15, 16,and 17 of the marathon route will be a 2.5 to 3 mile walk for me. The race starts at 7:00 AM in downtown Houston. I basically need to leave my home at 7:00 to walk the three miles to the route and find a spot to cheer from in order to be there when the elite runners are starting to tackle mile 14. It will be fun and inspiring... I'm going to do it. I cannot run a marathon, but I can watch. :)

I just remember.......

That is cool beans!

I just remember all those cold war propaganda pictures of what things were like in the Soviet Union with women waiting in line for a piece of sausage. If i would have seen these lovelies at the time I would have defected.

The pictures they were shown of the USA was farmers dumping milk into a river to raise the price.

Neither of those were 'completely' true, were they?:D
