Oh yeah! The memories!
I was dating wifey, in I guess about 1973? And was dropping her off at her house after our date, at about 11 p.m.? (She was a good girl!) And would hear the long version of Carlos Santana's Black Magic Woman come on the radio and I would look down at my gas gauge to make sure I had enough gas in my 70 Chevelle SS and head to the country and cruise. Nothing but me, Carlos and the sound of the Chevelle! And the next morning she'd call asking where I was? Because we'd talk for hours on the phone after a date. And I'd say cruising and she wouldn't say a word! She knew!!
Those were the days!!!

I was 17 and wifey was 16. Her and her two sisters had moved in to my neighborhood the previous year. I had went to a party her sister was having. And she came down the steps (two story house) and I knew then, I had to have her! She was on the way out that night to spend the night with her best friend. That I couldn't stand. So I was hitting on her and she wasn't interested. I was determined! And I think her best friend was telling her to stay away from me? Jealous!! So I'd see her at school or when I'd go to their house. (Her sister was good friends with one of my sisters!) so I'd drop my sister off there just hoping to see her! So I started telling (bugging) her sister to hook us up!
So one night I was there at her house and asked if she wanted to ride to Shoneys? The South Nashville cruise in, hot spot, with curb service? People would cruise there for hours! I was shocked when she said yes! I was so excited!! And when we got there I asked if she wanted something to eat? She said NO, she wasn't hungry! So I ordered for me and a cherry coke for her. I made her eat a few fries. That's all she'd eat. I offered her the entire menu! But She said NO!
So that's what started our 43 + year relationship! A cherry Coke and a few French Fries! And seeing bounce down those stairs! Wink Wink'
So, I was telling this story years later to a family member and she commented, she was starving that night, but was embarrassed to eat in front of me! On Our first kind'a date? She was really shy, back then!!! Boy times have changed!
We have two great kids and a grandson we dearly love!
But I knew when I saw her come down that stairway at her Dads house, I had to have her!!'

Mrs. and I met on a blind date on March 30, 1974...been together ever since and it's better than ever. Life's been good and we've been blessed.
