In the past I played with some ARs at 3 gun. Bought some did a few assemblies of them sold some, gave some to my son, and now thinking about maybe one more AR platform thing I might mess with. I don't call these builds because I just put parts together no fitting, hardest part is getting the little roll pins in the ping pong paddle and the gas block.
I bought a Bushmaster 20" H-Bar with removable carry handle just about as soon as that set up came on the market. Used it at 3 gun till I quit shooting matches and then gave it to my son who changed it some but is still using it at matches and doing well with it.
A fun put together that I made some money off of was with a ban period Oly Arms carbine and a DPMS take off of a M231 port firing weapon butt stock. I got the gun and other stuff I used as part of a trade and when I was done made some good money off a strange looking AR.
Did a 16" carbine with DPMS stuff but then again who hasn't. Actually a nice lite weight little weapon with the "Pencil" barrel.
At one point the son was planning a hunting trip and the only center-fire rifle he had or ever used was the Bushmaster in 5.56 that I don't think has enough knock down so I made him a 6.5 Grendel on DPMS parts with a Black Hole Weaponry barrel. Mixed emotions about my barrel choice, shoots excellent but was a pain in the butt because they don't sell matching bolts for their barrels. Kid never did go hunt so that one has just been sitting in his safe for years.
Jr. bought a PSA AR9 that takes Glock mags for shooting PCC class so I may have one last AR thing to do.
Just some of the joys of firearms and parenting.
