Back to the Box

Their should be a limit on the number of tours over there. I mean you survive four that's plenty. Anyway stay safe, thanks for your service and may God bless you and your family. It wouldn't be so bad if you were paid really well for being in the line of fire but I believe you'd make more at Mcdonalds.

Been absent from here for a bit. I've been called up again, and have been on Active Duty since 9 August. Got to spend three weeks at Ft Benning, went and visited Harmony Church, Sniper School and the Airborne School, for old time's sake. Didn't get to jump, though, which was probably just as well since I don't think my old knees would take it anymore. After that I reported to Ft Leonard Wood for "refresher training" just in case I've forgotten how to be an MP after 22 years, and I'll be heading to Camp Shelby on Saturday for a couple of weeks, and then it's back to Iraq for a year. I got to come home for a couple of days, and thought I'd take a few minutes to say "hi" to my fellow forum members before heading off to the big sandbox again. I guess Uncle Sam figures I need another combat tour, as if four isn't enough.
Celtic Sire...God Bless and take care. I remember though when Iraq was a better alternative than Benning.:)

Thank you and your family for your service and sacrifice.

My son leaves at 0420 Monday for Iraq on his third go round.

God protect all those who go in harm's way for our country.

Thanks for your service and please be safe. They really need to find a way to cut the number of tours, some seem to be getting the shaft. My youngest is deploying in Nov, her 1st to that area. I'll be praying for both of you.

My youngest is also headed to Camp Shelby tomorrow with the Tennessee National Guard. Due to head somewhere in the sandbox in December. He should get all the details while he's in Mississippi.
If you happen to be around the 278th Armored Cavalry, watch out for the skinny kid with dark hair. He's trouble! ;)

Best of luck to you Sir. May God watch over all our people in uniform.

Thought I'd give y'all an update while I had a few minutes. I managed to survive all the rain at Camp Shelby, and I've been in country for about 5 days now. A couple of briefings, got issued one of the new IOTVs that are replacing the IBAs, and it is a LOT more comfortable! Still weighs the same, but the weight is better distributed so you don't notice it as much. Now I'm waiting to catch the first thing smoking going north to hook up with my unit. Hopefully it won't take too long, I'm going stir crazy with nothing to do but look at four tent walls and sand. I have run into a couple of friends from a long time ago, though, so we got to spend some time catching up. Thanks for all the support, and I'll post again when I get a few minutes.
