Best Personal Defense ammo for shield?

I'm sticking with the 147gr.HST's and Rangers since it is what I stock for all my nines.The 124+P Gold Dot is one of the most consistent loads available and you can't go wrong with it.
I have not yet chronoed any of the 147's from the Shield but until I see a fail that's what I'll use since they shoot so well in this pistol,just like all the others.
Just my personal preference from my own testing,but there are sooo many good 9mm loads to choose from.

i run gold dots in all of my pistols. and i got lucky last year to find that my local shop had bought some blemish gold dots from Speer. on each case you could see a nick or blemish in the brass. course i have shot 25 or so with no problems.

My vote is for Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel.

If you are dead-set on Hornady Critical Defense or Duty, then the prices at SGAmmo.com | Family Owned and Operated, Stillwater Oklahoma are really great.

Honestly, I'd go with Duty before Defense out of the two. Not only is it bonded, it comes in 50 round boxes and is overall cheaper on that site.

Just curious....

Are any of you seeing more (or less) setback with one brand of round than another? I kind of like Federal's HST and other offerings for their cannelure, which seems to keep this from happening easily. I've read of complaints with the Gold Dot's setting back easily (although that was in .45 rounds).

Speer Gold Dot is all I run through my M&P's. Feed perfectly and fire fine through the Shield 9mm. With my FS .45 I have run Hornaday, Corbon +P and Speer Gold Dot 230 Gr. The Gold Dot feed the best, shoot the best, expand the best, and just overall have performed to standard. I think others would agree.

Don't exist? Then how do you explain the zombie ammo, knives and other gun accessories to deal with Zombies? Right here in Florida we had a guy chewing off another guy's face recently. Heck I even cut crosses on my ammo and dip them in holy water. As far as I am concerned Zombies do exists and eat brains because there is no other explanation for some of the posts you see on the internet.

Wasn't that just awful. The guy that did it was shot several times & didn't stop until a head shot. Was on bath salt drugs supposedly (at least that's what I've seen about the story). That's why always carry, there are nuts, and people full of the Devil everywhere.

Ammo makers and others know there are superstitious buyers who will swallow anything. They can turn that into a profit. Suckers will pay because they have no foundation for their belief system except what they see in movies. Your face eating crank was no zombie, just a drugged up misanthrope who watched too many zombie movies himself. Cutting crosses in your ammo is silly religious superstition having no basis in the Christian faith.

I see a lot of people choose Speer GD. It always performs near the top, but I always heard their primers can be a bit harder than federals....any truth to that?

I recently shot my 9mm Shield with 147gr. Gold Dots, 124gr. HST +P and 124gr. PDX-1 +P. The HST got the best group so that's what will be carried in it eventually. They also seem to penetrate and expand quite well in small or large semi-autos.

Im looking for the best personal defense ammo out there. What do you perfer and what do you think is to be the best defense ammo there. Help me fet the right ammo. I want the hornady home defense zombie ammo but cant find any anywere. Plzzz help me!!

You do not say the caliber, but in 9mm, I would go with Federal 9mm +P+ 115 grain JHP or Winchester +P+ 127 grain JHP.

In .40 caliber, I would go with either Winchester PDX-1 180 grain JHP or the Federal 155 or 180 grain Hydra-Shok. I would NOT use the Federal 165 grain Hydra-Shok.

I've used in my 9 shield, critical defense 115 grain sig sauer 124 grain and federal premium 124 grain hydro shock jhp. CD was good but did jam a couple times, sign sauer didn't quite like it, the federal I like the best.
