Bodyguard 2.0 magazines

I understand that the dimensions of the follower includes a "no-bind" design.

Cutting off the "fangs" may compromise the anti-bind effect?

Can you please post a photo of a fangless follower? :D
Is this pic before "fang" removal? What are the fangs?

File an angle on the fangs like s&w did on the later mags. They won't catch on the mag catch slot.

I picked up a 12 round mag today. Tried to load more than 10 it would not take 11. Took it apart and looking at the spring and how the coils are supposed to nest inside each other. A few measurements I found the small coils a bit to big and wouldn't nest inside the large coils. A slight squeeze with pliers on 2 coils fixed the problem. Now they take 12 rounds.

On my BG2 the chamber ramp was polished so it would shoot a bullet.

I had to cut the spring on the guide rod and "gunsmith" it so it would seat into the front of the slide without making love to it.

I can only get 9 rounds into the 10-round mag and 11 rounds into the 12-round mag.

I had to bang the crap out of my front sight with a hammer and punch to get it close to hit POA/POI.

Now I have to make love to my BG2 magazines!…I can "nest my coils with a slight squeeze" to get 12 rounds into my 12-round mag.

Why didn't S&W make love to these magazines before putting them in the box?

I took my 12-round mag apart. I believe I see what you described and the "nesting coils". I tried 3 times after giving some squeezes to the coils that appeared to be anti-nesters. I gave up. I'll just carry 1 round short of a full mag. :)

However, your sharing of that tip is really nice.

Mine would only take 10 if it took 11 i would have left it alone.
As far as S&W fixing it we bought a gun built to a price point. This is the way of mass production now a days I ought to know I spent 45 years in it. Send it back they will fix it but how many get fixed or just ignored by the customer. I guarantee the cost of repairing a few is cheaper than tightening manufacturing tolerances.

Or, just push a finger into that hole when loading the third round until "you" have time to file it. It's not too big of a deal once you know what's going on.

It seems strange that your "gunsmithing" the followers has corrected the full load issue with the mags, why S&W would not have tested the mags and made some adjustments to the follower BEFORE releasing the Body Guard 2.0?

When discussing the performance of defense carry firearm, I want it to be flawless out of the box for 2,500 round. If that takes a choice between a $449 pistol or a $1,449 pistol my choice is a no-brainer.
I purchased my 2.0 in July 2025. At time of purchase I bought an extra 12 rn mag. I had same isseu with 12 rn mags, could only get 10 to 11 rnds withing Uplula loading tool. When S&W opened nextday I called and the lady said she would send me 2 new 12 rnd mags FREE. About 10 days later I received the package. Now I have 3 12 rnd mags that I can't get loaded by hand. A DAMN SHAME S&W won't address the PROBLEM.

It does seem really strange that the most common stated cause of a magazine feed firearm failure is the magazine. The magazine is a very simple device attached to a functioning firearm.

I had to fix the follower on the 12-round mag out of the box on my BG2. I still cannot get either one of the mags loaded to max. I load them 1 short with the UpLULA.

I have returned mags from Sig that I could NOT load to specified maximum, even with an UpLULA.

I have had to "gunsmith" every magazine I purchased, and decided to keep, over the last 5 years. I have purchased 2 Colt 1911 8-round mags that I had to file the metal follower to eliminate binding at the top of the mag tube.

I just purchased 2 from KelTec mags for my P17. They are sold as a 16-round mag, and they look exactly like the 3 17-round mags that came with the P17. I could get 16 rounds in one, but I damaged the 22LR rounds as I'm jamming them in with my fingers. I could only get 15 rounds in the other one.

The 2 MagGuts +2 kits for my P365 Micro 12-mags work great. I can load 14 rounds by hand.

Am I expecting too much from the top firearm manufacturers on the planet?

The BG2.0 magazines have a QC problem; some are within spec, some are not. The in-spec examples hold the advertised, the others, not so much.
The good news, the guns run fine, and shoot well...even if they are one round short of a full load.
