Broken S&W revolver

pictures of my cylinder stop ,1st mod 38 special might be able to compare to the 1 he now has to se if his part is for a 38-or a32

Okay, now I understand a little.

Still, if you look at glowe’s photos in post #21,
the OP’s cylinder stop is closer to the front of the recess, or hole.
Could it be that these parts are not installed/not installed correctly ?
I mean the plunger and spring might not be holding the cylinder stop towards the back.

I believe you're exactly right. This photo from the OP in post #41 shows what your saying:

The cyl stop is too far forward for the trigger hook to contact the pin.

But in Dan's (the OP) 1st photo in post 41 the cyl stop is correctly positioned rearward:

So the trigger hook looks like it does contact the pin in the cyl stop properly. Dan do you have the spring/plunger and retention screw installed in the other photos???? That would correctly position the cyl stop for actuation by the trigger hook!

The spring and plunger are part of the cylinder stop.
